Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Is Returning to Japanese Cinemas for One Week

Demon Slayer fans, the Infinity Castle hype train still has not fully left the station.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is heading back to cinemas in Japan for a very limited one-week run from June 12 to June 18. The return is tied to the film winning the #1 Anime Film category at Japan’s Cinema Grand Prix, with selected winning titles getting special re-screenings.

That line-up also includes other big box office names such as Sinners and Wicked: For Good, so this is not just a random encore screening. It is basically Japan’s cinemas giving another lap to films that made a serious impact.

For Demon Slayer, though, the timing is quite funny. Infinity Castle only recently ended its monster theatrical run in Japan after staying in cinemas throughout 2025 and into this year. According to the report, the movie spent around nine months on the big screen before finally moving toward its home video release.

That is gila long for an anime film, even by Demon Slayer standards.

Why this matters for Malaysia and SEA fans

Before anyone rushes to check local cinema listings: this announced return is for Japan. There is no confirmed Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, or Philippines re-screening mentioned in the source.

But SEA fans should still care because Demon Slayer’s release pattern is always worth watching. When Japan locks in theatrical encores, Blu-ray/DVD dates, and promo pushes, it usually gives international fans a clearer idea of when the next stage might happen — whether that is home video, streaming, or future movie marketing.

Right now, Japan’s Blu-ray and DVD release for Infinity Castle is set for July 29. International home video details have not been announced yet, and there is still no confirmed streaming date for Japan or overseas territories.

So for Malaysian fans who missed the cinema run, the practical update is this: we are still waiting. No Netflix, Crunchyroll, Prime Video, or local digital release has been confirmed in this report. Until then, avoid random “HD release” links floating around social media, because you already know most of those are sus.

Part 2 is still far away

Infinity Castle is only the first movie in a planned trilogy adapting the final major arc from Koyoharu Gotoge’s manga. The first film leaves plenty unresolved, with major fights still waiting and, let’s be real, more emotional damage almost guaranteed.

The bad news: Part 2 is not coming in 2026. Ufotable has already placed the sequel under its future projects beyond the 2026 slate, which means 2027 is currently the earliest realistic window.

That makes this one-week Japan return feel like a small bonus for local fans rather than the start of the next big campaign. Still, it proves one thing clearly — Infinity Castle is still a massive theatrical force, even after its original run.

For Malaysia and SEA, the move is another reminder that Demon Slayer remains one of the few anime franchises that can turn a cinema release into a proper event. If Part 2 gets the same global treatment, expect big weekend crowds, premium format screenings, and a lot of fans trying very hard not to get spoiled online.

Until then, all eyes are on the July 29 Japanese home video launch and whatever international release plans come after.
