Netflix’s Devil May Cry is leaning even harder into its edgy action-game roots for Season 2, and honestly, the music choice makes total sense.

The upcoming second season has revealed a new animated music video featuring “See U in Hell”, a fresh single by Papa Roach featuring Hanumankind. The sequel is currently scheduled to stream exclusively on Netflix from May 12, 2026.

For fans who watched Season 1, Papa Roach being involved again is not random at all. The band’s iconic track “Last Resort” was previously used in a trailer for the first season, so this new single feels like Netflix doubling down on that early-2000s stylish demon-hunter energy. Very Dante-coded, bro.

Season 1 of the new Devil May Cry animated series premiered on Netflix on April 3, with the sequel confirmed just around a week later. The project was first announced back in September 2023 as an anime series from Capcom, Studio Mir, and Adi Shankar.

Shankar, who serves as executive producer, also recently spoke about his mission for the upcoming season. A main trailer and key visual were revealed last month, so Netflix has clearly started the Season 2 hype cycle early.

Why SEA fans should care

For Malaysia and the wider SEA region, Devil May Cry has always had that special gaming-cafe-era reputation. Even if you did not play every entry, chances are you knew Dante: red coat, giant sword, stylish combos, and the kind of confidence only a Capcom protagonist can survive with.

The Netflix series also arrives at a good time for anime-game adaptations. After years of fans being burned by lazy adaptations, streaming platforms are now treating game IP with more respect. For SEA viewers who mainly discover these series through Netflix, TikTok clips, YouTube trailers, and anime watch parties, a strong Season 2 could pull in both longtime DMC players and newer anime-only fans.

The Papa Roach and Hanumankind collaboration is also a smart music move. Papa Roach brings the nostalgic rock edge that fits Devil May Cry’s old-school attitude, while Hanumankind adds a newer global flavour that younger audiences may recognise. It is not just background music — it is part of the show’s identity.

What is Devil May Cry about?

Devil May Cry began as an action-adventure hack-and-slash game franchise created by Hideki Kamiya and developed mainly by Capcom. The series follows Dante, a supernatural demon hunter who takes on demonic threats while looking impossibly cool doing it.

The Netflix voice cast includes Johnny Yong Bosch as Dante, Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary, Hoon Lee as White Rabbit, Kevin Conroy as VP Baines, and Chris Coppola as Enzo.

The game franchise started in 2001 and has grown through six mainline titles: Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening, Devil May Cry 4, Ninja Theory’s reboot DmC: Devil May Cry, and Devil May Cry 5. Capcom has also released multiple collections, remasters, and special editions, including Devil May Cry HD Collection and upgraded versions of Devil May Cry 3, Devil May Cry 4, and Devil May Cry 5.

This is not Dante’s first anime rodeo either. MADHOUSE previously produced a 12-episode Devil May Cry anime in 2007, focusing more on Dante’s everyday work as a demon hunter.

For now, Season 2 looks like it is keeping the franchise’s main appeal intact: stylish violence, loud music, demons getting cooked, and Dante being Dante.
