Devil May Cry Season 2 Ending Leaves Dante, Vergil and Lady in Messy Places for Season 3

Netflix’s Devil May Cry is back in the spotlight, and Season 2 did not exactly close the book cleanly. If anything, the finale feels like the show quietly placing all the chess pieces for a much bigger third season — even though Netflix has not officially announced one yet.

Spoiler warning: we’re going into major Season 2 ending details below. If you have not finished the new season, balik dulu and watch it first.

Season 2 picks up with Dante in deep trouble after being captured by DarkCom and pulled into Makai, the demon-infested realm that basically gives the show its biggest playground so far. But the smart twist this season is that the story does not stay only with Dante. Vergil gets a much heavier share of the runtime, giving the series more room to explore the complicated Sparda family drama instead of just going full demon-slaying every episode.

The season also brings in Arius, a major antagonist from Devil May Cry 2. In the Netflix version, Arius leads Oroborus and is tied to the attempt to release Argosax, a dark lord-level threat. Dante and Vergil eventually manage to drag a powered-up Arius into Mundus’ realm, stopping the immediate disaster. But macam biasa with Devil May Cry, defeating one villain does not mean the family trauma suddenly disappears.

The finale’s biggest setup is Vergil’s confrontation with Mundus. After learning the truth about his mother’s death, Vergil turns his blade toward the demon lord. Dante, meanwhile, gets sent back to Earth with two pieces of the Perfect Amulet — the item split between the sons of Sparda. That alone tells us Season 3, if it happens, could separate the brothers emotionally and physically in a big way. Dante is back on Earth carrying the amulet pieces, while Vergil is left facing a much darker path in Makai.

For Malaysian and SEA fans who came into the anime through the games, this is the kind of setup that actually matters. Devil May Cry has always worked best when the stylish action is backed by messy brother-versus-brother tension. If Season 3 leans harder into Dante and Vergil being in completely different headspaces, we could be looking at a more character-driven season instead of just another monster-of-the-week demon hunt.

Then there is Jester. The demonic clown, familiar to players from Devil May Cry 3, plays a slippery role across Season 2 as someone who seems to be serving Mundus while also manipulating events from the side. The finale suggests he is not done yet, and that is a big deal because Jester’s true identity connects directly to Lady.

Lady discovers that Jester is actually Arkham, her father. That reveal pushes her toward a revenge arc, especially with her mother’s death still hanging over her. Season 2 also builds some real romantic tension between Dante and Lady, but her decision to chase her own vengeance could complicate that relationship fast. Honestly, that is a good move. Lady should not just be “Dante’s love interest”; she has enough baggage and firepower to carry a serious storyline on her own.

The world may have survived Arius and Mundus for now, but the fallout between Earth and Makai feels far from settled. Season 3 could easily explore what happens after both realms get dragged into this conflict, especially if the war leaves political, supernatural, and personal scars behind.

Netflix has not confirmed Devil May Cry Season 3 yet, so fans should not treat this as a done deal. Still, there is plenty left from the games for the anime to use. Nero from Devil May Cry 4 and Devil May Cry 5 has not appeared, while major names like Trish and V are also still waiting on the bench. With Adi Shankar’s Castlevania proving that Netflix can support a game adaptation beyond two seasons, Devil May Cry has a decent shot if the numbers are strong.

For now, Season 2 ends in proper Devil May Cry fashion: stylish, dramatic, and full of unresolved family problems. Bro, that is basically the franchise’s love language.
