Muchimaro’s Even the Student Council Has Its Holes! is taking a short break from publication, with the manga now scheduled to return in the 27th issue of Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine on June 3.
The update came via this year’s 24th issue of the magazine, which stated that the pause is due to the artist’s health. The good news: the same announcement also mentioned that Muchimaro’s condition is improving, so this sounds more like a recovery-focused break rather than a worrying long-term halt.
For manga fans, especially those who follow weekly releases, this is the kind of update that can feel frustrating but totally understandable. Weekly manga production is no joke — constant deadlines, chapter planning, art, corrections, and magazine schedules can be brutal even for established creators. If a short pause helps the artist recover properly, honestly, that’s the better outcome for everyone.
Even the Student Council Has Its Holes! first launched in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in 2022. Kodansha released the manga’s 12th compiled volume on March 17, so the series has already built up a solid run in Japan. For English-language readers, K MANGA is publishing the series digitally, while Seven Seas is handling the English print release. Seven Seas is currently set to ship the first English volume on September 8.
That English release timing matters for Malaysia and SEA readers because a lot of us discover newer manga through official digital platforms first, then pick up physical volumes later through import-friendly bookstores, Kinokuniya runs, or online sellers. If you’ve been waiting for a proper English print edition before jumping in, September is the date to keep on your radar.
The series is also getting extra attention because it is inspiring a TV anime adaptation. No extra anime details were included in this update, but the timing is worth noting: when a manga is heading toward anime, interest usually spikes fast. Expect more readers to check out the source material once character visuals, staff details, cast announcements, or a teaser trailer start dropping.
For now, fans only need to wait a little while. The manga is expected back on June 3, and the health update sounds positive. Hopefully Muchimaro gets enough time to properly recover — because better pacing for creators usually means better manga for readers too.
