Evo Japan 2026 wrapped up over the May 1-3 weekend, and for fighting game fans in Malaysia and SEA, there was quite a bit to chew on. No, this was not just another tournament weekend with a few trailers thrown in. Between a new Melty Blood update, old-school SNK love, Tekken 8 DLC timing, and more Marvel Tokon roster reveals, the FGC got a pretty stacked news drop.
The biggest surprise was probably Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina, an updated version of the 2021 fighting game. It is planned for release in 2027, so this is still a long wait, but Type-Moon fans finally have something concrete to look forward to.
This new version will include gameplay updates, balance adjustments, new characters, and a new story from Kinoko Nasu. Full roster details and story routes have not been shared yet, but the key art already shows Len, a familiar face from past mainline and Melty Blood entries.
Platform support is also wide, which is good news for SEA players who are split across consoles and PC. Melty Blood: Twi-Lumina is coming to Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and PC in 2027. For Malaysia, the PC and Switch versions will likely matter most, especially for players who prefer local meetups, laptop setups, or portable play.
SNK also had a strong presence at Evo Japan 2026. World Heroes Perfect is now available on Steam at US$19.99, with a temporary US$14.99 discount running until May 8, 2026. Steam Malaysia pricing can vary, but the key thing here is that this is not just a lazy re-release. It includes the original game content plus Practice Mode, Gallery Mode with official and concept art, rollback netcode, Steam Achievements, Leaderboards, and Remote Play support.
That rollback netcode part is the real win. For Malaysian and SEA players, online fighting games live or die by connection quality. Rollback does not magically fix bad routing, but it makes classic fighters way more playable across regions compared to older delay-based setups.
SNK also revealed that Mr. Karate will join Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves as part of Season 2. He originally appeared as a boss in Art of Fighting, and here he continues the game’s crossover character trend. Mr. Karate arrives in May 2026 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
On the Marvel side, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls confirmed two more playable characters: Black Panther and The Incredible Hulk. The Black Panther in this game will be Shuri rather than T’Challa, and Wakanda will appear as a stage. Both Shuri and Hulk are listed alongside Avengers characters such as Captain America and Iron Man. The game launches on PS5 and PC on August 6, 2026.
Finally, Tekken fans got the date they were waiting for. Kunimitsu is coming to Tekken 8, but access depends on whether you own the Season 3 Character Pass. Pass owners can use her from May 27, 2026. Everyone else will need to wait until June 1, 2026 to buy her separately on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
For Malaysia’s Tekken crowd, this is the one to watch. Kunimitsu has always been a stylish, tricky character, and her arrival could shake up ranked matches and local brackets fast. Expect lab monsters to start cooking setups the moment early access begins.
The next major Evo event is Evo Las Vegas, which will run from June 26-28, 2026. If Evo Japan was the warm-up, Vegas might be where we see even bigger reveals.
