SNK has locked in April 24 as the release date for Wolfgang Krauser in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, with a new trailer confirming the veteran boss character's arrival. The timing is not random either, because the DLC launch lands alongside the game's first anniversary.

For long-time SNK fans, Krauser showing up feels very on-brand. He is one of the big legacy names tied to Fatal Fury's history, so bringing him in for the anniversary is a pretty clean way to celebrate one year of City of the Wolves.

That matters for Malaysia and the wider SEA fighting game crowd too. SNK games may not always dominate the same way the biggest modern fighters do, but Fatal Fury still carries serious history here. A lot of local players grew up knowing these characters through arcades, console ports, The King of Fighters, and anime adaptations, so legacy additions like Krauser hit differently compared to a totally new guest character.

Season Pass 2 is stacking up fast

Krauser is part of Season Pass 2, which is already filling out at a steady pace. According to SNK's current rollout:

  • Kim Jae Hoon launched on January 22
  • Nightmare Geese followed on February 26
  • Blue Mary arrived on March 26
  • Wolfgang Krauser joins on April 24

SNK also says two more characters in Season Pass 2 are scheduled for May and June. One of the biggest names still coming is Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star, who is set to debut in June.

That crossover angle is a big deal. For anime and fighting game fans in SEA, Kenshiro is the kind of guest pick that can pull interest from outside the usual SNK player base. If you're the type who loves weird but hype crossover rosters, City of the Wolves is clearly leaning into that energy.

Street Fighter crossover characters are already in

The game has also been pushing its Street Fighter crossover hard. Ken and Chun-Li are both included in Season Pass 1, giving the roster a strong Capcom-SNK crossover pull that is easy to market across the region.

SNK's Season Pass 1 rollout went like this:

  • Andy Bogard on June 24
  • Ken on August 3
  • Joe Higashi on October 11
  • Chun-Li on November 5
  • MR. BIG on December 9

For local players, this mix of classic SNK names plus Street Fighter guests gives the game a better chance of staying in conversation at community sessions, side tournaments, and content circles. Even if someone is not fully grinding ranked, a roster with Chun-Li, Ken, Terry, Mai, and now Krauser is enough to get people curious.

A roster that mixes legacy icons, guests, and new faces

Beyond the DLC roadmap, City of the Wolves has been building a roster that mixes returning favourites with some stranger picks. The game has added DJ Salvatore Ganacci, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Hokutomaru, alongside returning characters such as Terry Bogard, Rock Howard, Tizoc, Hotaru Futaba, Marco Rodrigues, B. Jenet, Kevin Rian, Billy Kane, Mai Shiranui, Kim Dong Hwan, and Gato. It also features new characters Preecha and Vox Reaper.

SNK first announced the game at EVO 2022, and that alone was a major moment because this is the first new Fatal Fury game in more than 20 years. That gap matters. Fatal Fury is not just another old fighting game brand, it is one of SNK's foundational series, and it helped introduce some of the company's most recognisable characters.

The franchise dates back to 1991's Fatal Fury: King of Fighters in arcades, while Garou: Mark of the Wolves arrived in 1999 as the previous main entry. Fatal Fury's DNA also runs straight into The King of Fighters, which originally started as a crossover fighter pulling from SNK's Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting worlds.

There is anime history here too. The series inspired Fatal Fury: Legend of the Hungry Wolf in 1992, Fatal Fury 2: The New Battle in 1993, and Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture in 1994, with Masami Obari involved in the character designs and directing the third anime film.

With Krauser dropping on April 24 and more DLC still on the way, City of the Wolves looks like SNK is not done feeding the anniversary momentum yet.
