Square Enix is bringing part of the Final Fantasy XIII crossover back to FFVII Ever Crisis on April 15, 2026, and this rerun is not just a simple recycle.
The returning banners for Cloud and young Sephiroth will come with Reawakened upgrades, which means the featured costumes and weapons are being refreshed with stronger effects so they feel more in line with newer gear.
For players in Malaysia and across SEA, this is the kind of rerun that actually matters. A lot of mobile RPG players here jump in and out depending on events, banner luck, and how punishing the grind feels. So if you missed the original FFXIII collab, or pulled the gear before it started looking outdated, this is a proper second shot instead of filler content.
When the crossover first appeared, Aerith and Tifa got outfits inspired by Lightning’s look from FFXIII. Later banners expanded the collab with FFXIII-2-themed gear for young Sephiroth and Lightning Returns: FFXIII equipment for Cloud and Glenn. This rerun focuses on some of those later pieces, and Square Enix says the featured weapons will receive a new C Ability plus an extra Spade Custom effect, while the featured gear pieces will also gain new C Abilities.
One thing still unclear, though: there is no confirmation yet on whether Glenn’s armor, which was obtainable through the event before, will also get the same Reawakened treatment.
What’s getting updated
Here’s the breakdown of the announced changes:
-
Cloud’s Crimson Blitz sword gets Lightning Rush, a C Ability that deals non-elemental magic damage, applies Ice Weakness to one enemy, and grants allies an Ice Damage Bonus if Cloud’s HP drops below 50%.
-
Its Spade Custom effect adds an Ice ATM Conservation buff for all allies.
-
Cloud’s Equilibrium gear gets Ultra Lightning Rush, which deals non-elemental magic damage to one enemy and gives Cloud Exploit Weakness.
-
Glenn’s Snow’s Bardiche axe gets Chaos Geyser, dealing ice magic damage, applying MATK Down to one enemy, and giving allies MDEF Up if Glenn’s HP is below 70%.
-
Its Spade Custom adds a Fire Damage Down debuff on enemies.
-
Young Sephiroth’s Knight of Etro gets Ultra Smite, which deals physical water damage to one enemy and grants hum Amp Phys Abilities.
-
Young Sephiroth’s Overture sword gets Smite, dealing physical water damage, applying PDEF Down to one enemy, and granting allies HP Gain plus Water Damage Up if Sephiroth already has a buff.
-
Its Spade Custom boosts allies’ MDEF.
Square Enix also shared updated infographics showing off the returning FFXIII-themed equipment, basically as a reminder of what these collab items look like in-game.
For longtime Final Fantasy fans, this rerun taps straight into nostalgia. But for active Ever Crisis players, the more important part is the rebalance. Old collab gear coming back without proper buffs usually feels dead on arrival, especially in a live-service game where newer banners keep pushing the power curve higher. Reawakened upgrades make these pieces more relevant, which gives the rerun actual value instead of just collector appeal.
And for the SEA crowd, especially mobile-first players, that’s the real win. You do not need every rerun to be brand new content, but you do want it to be worth your gems.
FFVII Ever Crisis is available now on PC and mobile, and the returning FFXIII event banners go live on April 15, 2026.
