If you somehow needed Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End to become even more collectible, here’s one more thing to throw into the wishlist. Ensky and Mattel have announced a Japan-exclusive Frieren-themed UNO deck, adding the fantasy anime and manga cast to one of the most recognisable card games on the planet.
The set is priced at ¥1,760 (about US$11), and while there is still no exact release date, the official product page says it is scheduled to launch toward the end of April 2026.
For fans in Malaysia and the rest of SEA, the good news is this does not look like a Japan-only item in the strictest sense. Ensky supports overseas shipping through Buyee, which means import buyers outside Japan should still be able to place an order instead of waiting and hoping for a regional release.
That matters because anime merch like this usually lives or dies on accessibility. A lot of Malaysia-based fans are already used to buying figures, artbooks, and collab goods through proxy services anyway, so this UNO set feels like the kind of small-but-fun pickup that could do well with Frieren collectors here, especially for people who want something less expensive than a scale figure but still clearly tied to the series.
What’s actually different in the Frieren UNO set?
Gameplay-wise, this is still standard UNO. You are not getting a total redesign or some complicated anime board game spin-off. The main change is the presentation: the cards feature characters from the anime and manga.
The deck includes 112 cards, and they are the usual UNO card size. It also comes with optional special rule cards, similar to what Ensky previously did with the Dr. Stone UNO version. Like regular UNO, it supports 2 to 10 players.
So yes, this is basically classic UNO with Frieren flavour on top, which is honestly not a bad thing. For casual fans, that makes it easy to bring out during lepak sessions, anime meetups, campus game nights, or convention hangouts without needing anyone to learn a whole new ruleset first.
Why SEA anime fans might care
Frieren is already a strong name in the region, especially among viewers who like fantasy series that are quieter, more emotional, and less noisy than the usual seasonal action stack. Since the anime is streaming on Crunchyroll, there is already a clear viewing path for fans across Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, Viz Media handles the manga outside Japan, so the series has proper reach beyond local Japanese releases too.
That makes this collab feel more relevant than some ultra-niche merch drop that only hardcore import hunters would notice. Even if the deck does not get an official Southeast Asia retail launch, the fact that overseas ordering is available means Malaysian fans are not completely locked out.
There is also a small chance it becomes easier to buy later. The report notes that Ensky previously sold the Dr. Stone UNO variant on its worldwide Amazon shop for US$19.99, so the same could happen with Frieren down the line. Nothing is confirmed yet, but it is something collectors should keep an eye on if they would rather avoid proxy shipping.
Not the first anime UNO, but definitely one of the cleaner fits
Anime-branded UNO decks are not exactly new. Before this, My Hero Academia and Spy x Family versions showed up in Japan through McDonald’s Happy Meal promotions. Still, Frieren feels like a particularly neat fit for this kind of merch, mostly because the series has a big enough fanbase to move units, but the product itself stays simple and usable.
No gimmick overload, no weird premium upsell, just UNO with Frieren characters on the cards. Sometimes that’s enough, bro.
