FuRyu is teasing something new, and bro, the vibe is already unsettling.
The Japanese publisher and developer best known for games like The Caligula Effect, Crymachina and Varlet has launched a fresh official X account under the name Project Alice. According to the teaser, this is for a new full-price console game, though FuRyu is clearly not ready to spill the proper details yet.
For now, the account has only one post — a short, strange clip that leans hard into psychological horror territory. The audio features a girl’s voice repeatedly apologising in a dazed, almost ritual-like way, before suddenly becoming more panicked and defensive. The visuals are just as eerie. At first glance, the account’s avatar, header and teaser image look almost completely black, but a closer look appears to reveal artwork of a red, crying eye.
So yes, FuRyu is very much asking fans to put on their detective hats.
The main concrete detail is a date and time: April 25, 2026 at 20:30, presumably Japan time. If that is JST, Malaysian and Singaporean fans should be looking at 7:30pm MYT/SGT for the next major update. FuRyu also says more cryptic clues will be posted over the next three days before the reveal, meaning this is probably going to be one of those slow-burn teaser campaigns where the community tries to decode every image, sound and symbol.
That tracks for FuRyu. The studio has carved out a niche with JRPGs that are not always mainstream blockbuster-tier, but often carry strong identity — emotional themes, stylish character drama, weird worlds, and plenty of angst. The Caligula Effect in particular built its name around psychological conflict and escapism, while Crymachina also leaned into heavy sci-fi melancholy. Based on this first teaser, Project Alice could be another moody, character-driven game — possibly with horror or thriller elements — but FuRyu has not confirmed the genre yet.
For SEA players, this is worth keeping an eye on because FuRyu games often land in that sweet spot for JRPG fans who want something stranger than the usual big-budget fantasy release. Malaysian anime and JRPG fans especially tend to follow these mid-sized Japanese projects closely, even when they are a bit niche, because they usually bring the kind of character art, voice acting and dramatic storytelling that hits well with the ACG crowd.
The big questions now: what platforms will it come to, whether it gets a global release, and whether English support will be there at launch. Since the teaser says console game, we can safely expect at least some dedicated platform reveal later, but for now FuRyu is keeping everything locked behind the creepy Alice curtain.
