HoYoVerse has officially pulled back the curtain on Lohen, a new Genshin Impact character set to join the game in the Luna VII update.
The new face comes from Mondstadt and serves as the vice captain of the Knights of Favonius Ranged Company. His reveal follows the debut of Varka, the Knights of Favonius Grand Master, and adds another familiar Mondstadt connection to the growing Luna VII lineup.
At the moment, HoYoVerse still has not confirmed whether Lohen will be a four-star or five-star unit. Even so, the early character marketing already gives players a decent idea of what to expect.
What we know about Lohen so far
Lohen is confirmed to be a Cryo character, so his attacks will deal ice-based damage. His Constellation is called Lepus Miles.
One of the more interesting details is that, despite being attached to the Ranged Company, Lohen apparently does not rely on a bow most of the time. HoYoVerse's teaser instead points to him fighting mainly with a spear, which strongly suggests he will be a polearm user.
That already makes him stand out a bit. Right now, the Cryo + polearm combination is still relatively uncommon in Genshin Impact. The current known characters in that category are:
- Mika
- Rosaria
- Escoffier
- Shenhe
So if you are the kind of player who likes niche team options or collects specific element-weapon pairings, Lohen is already worth watching.
Why this matters for Malaysian and SEA players
For players in Malaysia and across Southeast Asia, Genshin Impact remains one of the region's biggest mobile and cross-platform games, so early character reveals like this matter more than they might seem. A new Cryo unit can affect banner saving plans, farming priorities, and even whether players start holding onto materials ahead of release.
Lohen's weapon choice is also notable because polearm users tend to attract plenty of interest in this region, especially among players who enjoy flexible on-field and support-style builds. We still do not know his exact kit, role, or rarity, but the combination of Mondstadt ties, Favonius lore, and a less common Cryo polearm setup gives him immediate appeal.
For lore fans, there is another angle too. HoYoVerse is clearly using Luna VII marketing to spotlight characters connected to major factions and names players already know. Since Lohen appears after Varka's debut, his reveal helps flesh out that side of the Favonius cast a little more.
Luna VII now has two confirmed newcomers
With Lohen now announced, there are currently two confirmed playable characters linked to Luna VII.
The first is Nicole Reeyn, a member of the Hexenzirkel who is also described as a silent angel. Lohen becomes the second known addition, giving players two very different characters to keep an eye on as HoYoVerse rolls out more details.
For now, that means Genshin players should probably keep expectations in check and wait for the next round of reveals. We know Lohen's element, likely weapon type, faction role, and Constellation, but not his rarity or full gameplay function yet.
Still, for anyone in SEA who follows Genshin closely, this is the kind of reveal that is useful to bookmark early, especially if you are planning your pulls for Luna VII.
Genshin Impact is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and mobile devices.
