The upcoming TV anime adaptation of So What's Wrong with Getting Reborn as a Goblin? has locked in four more cast members, giving SEA anime fans another reason to keep this title on the October watchlist.
The anime is based on the manga by writer Nazuna Miki and artist Tsukasa Araki, known in Japanese as Tensei Goblin dakedo Shitsumon Aru?. According to the latest update from the anime's official website, the new cast additions are:
- Banjō Ginga as Simon, the Emperor's uncle
- Sayumi Suzushiro as Eirene, the eldest of three elven sisters
- M.A.O as Dike, the second-oldest elven sister
- Wakana Kuramochi as Eunomia, the youngest of the sisters
That gives the fantasy side of the show a bit more shape now, especially with the three elven sisters being introduced together. For isekai fans in Malaysia, this is exactly the kind of casting update worth tracking before the Fall/October anime season gets crowded. Every season memang penuh with reincarnation, fantasy kingdoms, demon lords, and overpowered protagonists, so the supporting cast is usually what decides whether a show feels fun or just another template run.
The main story follows Akira Yagami, an office worker whose good nature usually leaves him losing out. After dying while saving a child from traffic, he wakes up in another world — not as a noble hero or cheat-skill prince, but as a goblin. Normally, goblins in this setting only survive for seven days, but Akira's new abilities allow him to break past that short lifespan and begin his climb toward becoming the strongest goblin.
Previously announced cast members include Kikunosuke Toya as Akira, the former salaryman reborn as a goblin, and Yōko Hikasa as Karen, who encounters Akira while chasing goblins responsible for killing humans.
Behind the scenes, Ryūta Kawahara is directing the anime at BAKKKA. His credits include work on The Summer Hikaru Died, Orange, 86, and Blend S as an episode director. Yūichirō Momose is handling series scripts, with past work including So I'm a Spider, So What? and Africa Salaryman. Character designs are by Hiroyuki Saita, while Hiroto Morishita serves as sound director. Music is being composed by Takenoko Boy at INCS Toenter.
For Malaysian and SEA viewers, the big question now is streaming access. This update did not announce a platform or regional availability, so fans here will still need to wait and see whether it lands on the usual anime services for our region. But genre-wise, it should appeal to viewers who like underdog isekai stories with a monster-side twist — less standard chosen hero, more weird survival grind.
The manga first launched on Shueisha's Tonari no Young Jump website in 2020. Shueisha released the 14th compiled volume in Japan on March 18, while Yen Press is publishing the manga in English and will release volume 10 on May 26.
So What's Wrong with Getting Reborn as a Goblin? is scheduled to premiere as a TV anime in October.
