Shift Up still has not announced a full-blown Goddess of Victory: NIKKE anime, but fans are finally getting something close: a new animated shorts series titled Outpost: Off-Duty Tales.
The series is scheduled to begin airing on May 22, 2026. For now, Shift Up has not confirmed which animation studio is handling the shorts, and it also has not clearly said whether the episodes will be released only on YouTube or across other platforms as well.
That detail matters quite a bit for Malaysian and SEA fans. NIKKE has a strong mobile-first audience here, and short-form anime-style content is the kind of thing that spreads fast through WhatsApp groups, Discord servers, TikTok edits, and X timelines. If Shift Up makes these easy to watch globally, this could become a nice weekly hype cycle for the game instead of just another announcement locked behind official socials.
Unlike the main story of Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, which can swing from stylish sci-fi action to genuinely heavy emotional moments, Outpost: Off-Duty Tales looks like it is aiming for a softer vibe. Based on the first key art, episode title, and Shift Up’s description, the shorts will focus on everyday downtime and more relaxing scenes away from the battlefield.
Honestly, that sounds like a smart move. NIKKE already has enough drama, trauma, and big event stakes to keep players busy. A calmer animated side series gives the characters room to breathe, especially for fans who follow the squad dynamics as much as the gacha banners. Sometimes you just want to see the girls hang out without everything going full apocalypse mode, bro.
The first episode is titled The Counters – First Time at the Outpost. As the title suggests, it focuses on the Counters squad, which includes Anis, Neon, Rapi, and Shifty. The key visual shown for the series features Neon, Rapi, and Anis together, with Modernia also appearing while seated with her back facing the viewer.
For newer players in Malaysia who jumped into NIKKE during recent anniversary campaigns, this is probably a good entry point into the character side of the franchise. You do not need to be deep into late-game story chapters to understand the appeal of seeing familiar faces in slice-of-life moments. It is the kind of content that can help casual players feel more connected to the cast, especially if they mainly know NIKKE through banners, memes, or event art.
The timing also makes sense. Shift Up recently marked Goddess of Victory: NIKKE’s 3.5th anniversary, which included a new SSR alternate version of Anis. The studio has also teased that preparations are already underway for the game’s 4th anniversary. Dropping animated shorts now keeps the community warm between major updates and gives fans something to talk about beyond pull rates and meta teams.
For SEA players, the bigger question is whether this is just a fun side project or a test balloon for something larger. A proper NIKKE anime still feels like an obvious next step given the game’s character designs, music, and cinematic storytelling. But for now, Outpost: Off-Duty Tales is the closest thing fans are getting.
