Heaven Burns Red is linking up with Persona 5 Royal for a new Japanese crossover event, and yes, this one is very clearly aimed at fans who still cannot escape the Phantom Thieves brainrot.
WFS confirmed that the event will begin in Japan on 22 May 2026. Officially titled Operation: Takana wa Mementos – Wake Your Heart, the collab brings several Persona 5 Royal favourites into the Heaven Burns Red universe, with the event story supervised by Atlus and written by Key.
For Persona fans in Malaysia and SEA, this is the kind of crossover that will probably make people reinstall just to check the banners. Persona 5 Royal still has huge pull here, especially after launching across modern platforms like PS5, Switch, Xbox and PC. Even if you only know Heaven Burns Red casually, seeing Makoto, Kasumi and Morgana appear in a Key-written scenario is a pretty strong hook.
Who is joining the event?
The first wave of the event will feature Makoto “Queen” Niijima, Morgana / Mona, and a special Panther-inspired version of Tsukasa Tojo. A second banner will later bring in Kasumi “Violet” Yoshizawa.
Mona will be given out through event story progression, which is good news for free-to-play players. Queen and the Panther-style Tsukasa are SSR Memoria, while Violet will also arrive as an SSR Memoria. Mona is listed as an SS Memoria.
Trailers for the characters have already been released, alongside a wider event PV showing the crossover cast in battle. The promotional video also puts Ruka Kayamori and Joker in the spotlight, though Joker has not been confirmed as a playable or banner unit for the second half at the time of writing.
Free pulls are part of the launch
WFS is also handing out a decent batch of rewards around the crossover.
Players who log in during the event period will receive 50 Lifestones, 3,000 Quartz, and other items. Since a 10-pull on a Memoria banner costs 3,000 Quartz, that login bonus alone gives players enough for one themed multi-pull.
There will also be another login campaign giving 300 Quartz per day for 15 days. If players claim every day, that adds up to 4,500 Quartz on top of the initial bonus.
For gacha players, that matters. Persona collabs usually trigger the “okay maybe just one multi” mentality, and having enough Quartz ready on day one makes the event easier to jump into without instantly opening the wallet.
What about the global version?
Here is the part SEA players need to watch: the crossover has only been dated for the Japanese version of Heaven Burns Red. There is currently no confirmed global release window for the Persona 5 Royal event.
That is not too surprising. The global version launched around two years after Japan and is still catching up on content. Its previous major update included the Clock Tower expansion, so players outside Japan may have to wait before this collab arrives worldwide.
Still, this is worth keeping on the radar. Persona 5 Royal remains one of Atlus’ biggest modern RPGs, and a Heaven Burns Red crossover with Atlus supervision plus Key writing is not just a random skin drop. If the event eventually reaches global, expect plenty of SEA players to show up for Queen and Violet alone.
Heaven Burns Red is available on mobile devices and PC. The Persona 5 Royal crossover begins in Japan on 22 May 2026.
