Honkai: Nexus Anima Opens Closed Beta Sign-Ups, Teases New Characters and City Locations

HoYoVerse has officially kicked off recruitment for a new Honkai: Nexus Anima closed beta, and it comes with a small but interesting batch of early reveals.

The test is called the Aspect Exploration Project, a confidential beta programme that was first teased back in February 2026. This time, the company also shared concept art showing four characters and three locations, giving fans a better idea of the game's style, even if a lot of the details are still being kept under wraps.

What HoYoVerse confirmed about the beta

This is not a regular open sign-up test where tons of players get in. HoYoVerse described it as a "small scale" confidential closed beta, and anyone selected will need to sign and follow an NDA.

A few key points stand out:

  • There is no announced start date yet
  • The test has no fixed end date
  • The registration survey is already live
  • HoYoVerse said invitations will be sent out by email in batches
  • The survey will stay open for now, which means people may still get a shot at joining later
  • Participants must be 18 or older
  • Testers need access to PC plus either an Android or iOS device
  • Progress or data from the test will not be saved, so players will need to start fresh

That last point is worth noting. If you're the type who likes carrying beta progress into launch, this won't be that kind of test.

New concept art shows characters and city spots

On the content side, HoYoVerse revealed three locations and four character images, though everything shown so far is still concept art and could change before release.

The three locations are:

  • Pedestrian Street, an urban shopping area
  • Fleming Tower, a futuristic office complex
  • Kakatini Grand Hotel, a more elegant hotel setting

The four character artworks were not given official names, but one of them reportedly looks a lot like an older Carole Pepper from Honkai Impact 3rd. That has naturally caught attention, especially since crossover-style character appearances are not exactly new for HoYoVerse fans. The source article also points out that Blade from Honkai: Star Rail has already been seen appearing in this game.

So while HoYoVerse is still being vague, the early material does suggest Honkai: Nexus Anima may continue that familiar multiverse-style appeal fans already associate with the wider Honkai ecosystem.

Why Malaysia and SEA players should keep an eye on this

For players in Malaysia and across Southeast Asia, this is one to watch because HoYoVerse games already have a massive community here, especially on mobile. A project built for PC, Android, and iOS fits exactly how a lot of gamers in the region actually play, whether that's on phone during commute, or on PC at home after work or class.

The NDA-heavy approach also tells us HoYoVerse is still being careful with how it introduces the game. So jangan expect a flood of public gameplay clips anytime soon. For now, the bigger takeaway is that the company is moving beyond vague teases and into active tester recruitment, which usually means development is entering a more hands-on feedback phase.

If you're already deep in the Honkai rabbit hole, the possible Carole Pepper connection alone is enough to raise eyebrows.

Honkai: Nexus Anima is currently in development for PC, Android, and iOS, and registration for the Aspect Exploration Project beta is now open.
