HoYoverse is starting to roll out more Petit Planet character teasers before the game's Stardrift closed beta begins on April 21, 2026, and honestly, the early vibe is looking very comfy.

So far, three short videos are out, each focusing on a potential resident who could end up moving to your planet. Two of them, Yunguo and Msafiri, will already be familiar to players who checked out the Coziness Test back in November 2025. The third trailer introduces a brand new face, Medowlyn.

For anyone in Malaysia or the wider SEA crowd who likes chill life-sim games on phone and PC, this is the kind of update worth keeping an eye on. HoYoverse obviously has massive reach in the region, and if Petit Planet lands properly, it could end up pulling in the same audience that loves games with collectible characters, daily routines, and cosy progression loops.

The three characters revealed so far

Yunguo

Yunguo was the first of the three to get a spotlight trailer. She is described as a cultivator, and her design is based on a red panda. In the earlier Coziness Test, some of her in-game activities were connected to growing plants and crops, so the farming angle is clearly a big part of her identity.

The new video also lets players hear her English voice acting, while showing her talking about gardening. Her featured art leans into that theme too, with pumpkins included in the visual. HoYoverse also confirmed that Yunguo's birthday is September 19.

If you're the type who always gravitates toward farming systems in cosy games, Yunguo already looks like one of the easiest characters to lock onto.

Medowlyn

The second teaser is for Medowlyn, who is the only completely new character in this batch. She is a sheep-type resident and is introduced as a Plushie Designer.

Compared to Yunguo's trailer, this one keeps things a bit more mysterious. Medowlyn does not speak in the clip, so HoYoverse still hasn't revealed what her English voice sounds like. What we do know is that her whole identity seems built around making stuffed animals, which is a pretty strong fit for the game's soft, cute aesthetic.

Her birthday is listed as July 5.

She's probably going to be one of those characters fans attach to fast, especially if HoYoverse expands her crafting or decoration role later on.

Msafiri

The most recent short focuses on Msafiri, whose look is inspired by a caracal. He is presented as a more adventurous personality, and the footage confirms his role as an Adventure Guide.

Unlike Yunguo, Msafiri also doesn't get voiced dialogue in the teaser. Instead, the clip leans harder into his athletic side and overall energetic vibe. His birthday is August 8.

For players who prefer exploration-flavoured characters over farming or crafting types, Msafiri seems like the obvious pick from this set.

Why this matters for SEA players

Right now, these trailers are small reveals, but they do tell us a lot about how HoYoverse wants to sell Petit Planet: not just as a cosy sandbox, but as a game where residents have distinct roles, hobbies, and personalities.

That matters because character attachment is a huge deal in this region. SEA players, including a lot of Malaysian gamers, don't just want a cute world, they want favourites. Birthdays, jobs, voice snippets, and strong visual identities are exactly the kind of details that help a character click early.

It also helps that Petit Planet is coming to PC and mobile, which is a big plus for this market. A life-sim that can fit both desk players and mobile-first users has a much better shot of finding a real audience here.

Beta sign-ups are still open

HoYoverse says Petit Planet is still in development for PC and mobile devices, and the Stardrift closed beta starts on April 21, 2026. Sign-ups for the beta are still available through the official website, and players can also pre-register ahead of the full launch for the Animal Crossing-style game.

If you've been waiting to see whether Petit Planet has enough personality beyond the cosy art style, these three teasers are a decent sign that HoYoverse is starting to flesh out the world properly.
