Kim Possible Reboot Leak Has Disney Fans Watching Closely

A fresh leak has put Kim Possible back in the conversation, and for anyone who grew up with Disney Channel in Malaysia, this one hits the nostalgia button quite hard.

According to a listing spotted on the SAG-AFTRA website, a project titled “Kim Possible Reboot” is marked as Active. The listing places it under a basic cable animation agreement, with Disney TV Animation attached.

Sounds exciting, right? But hold first — there is one big detail that makes this less straightforward. The contract year shown on the listing is 2020, which means this could be an old project that was planned, paused, quietly shelved, or still sitting somewhere inside Disney’s long development pipeline.

So yes, the leak is interesting. No, it is not an official confirmation yet.

Why Kim Possible Still Matters

For younger fans, Kim Possible might just look like another Disney throwback. But for a lot of 2000s kids, this was one of the channel’s defining animated shows.

The original series followed Kim, a high school student who somehow balanced normal teen problems with full-on world-saving spy missions. That mix of action, comedy, school life, villains, gadgets, and friendship made it ridiculously easy to watch. It ran for four seasons, ended in 2007, and built a fanbase strong enough to keep the franchise alive through games, merchandise, and later appearances.

The show also had more reach than some people remember. It crossed over with Lilo & Stitch in 2005, returned in a live-action made-for-TV movie, and popped up again through Disney’s crossover series Chibiverse. Still, a proper new animated series has never been officially announced.

That is why this reboot listing has fans paying attention.

Why SEA Fans Should Care

In Malaysia and across SEA, Disney Channel was a huge part of after-school TV culture before streaming took over. Shows like Kim Possible, American Dragon, Lilo & Stitch: The Series, and later titles like Gravity Falls helped shape a whole generation’s taste in Western animation.

Now that Disney+ Hotstar is available locally, old-school titles are easier to revisit without hunting random uploads online. The four original seasons of Kim Possible are currently available on Disney+, so if this reboot ever becomes real, Malaysian fans can actually catch up properly.

A revival could also land at the right time. Disney has been leaning hard into legacy franchises, and audiences are clearly still interested in animated comebacks when they are handled with respect. The tricky part is tone. Kim Possible worked because it was stylish, funny, and confident without trying too hard. A modern reboot cannot just throw in TikTok jokes and call it a day, bro.

What Could A Reboot Even Look Like?

The original finale saw Kim and Ron graduating from high school, which gives Disney a few possible directions.

A straight reboot could reset the whole story for a new generation. But a sequel series might be more interesting, especially if it follows Kim and Ron in college or adulthood while bringing in a new team of young heroes. That would let longtime fans feel rewarded without locking out new viewers.

For now, though, this is still in leak territory. The SAG-AFTRA listing shows that something called “Kim Possible Reboot” existed in some production-related form, but Disney has not officially announced a new series.

Still, if Disney really is thinking about bringing Kim Possible back, the demand is definitely there. The brand has nostalgia, a clean action-comedy hook, and enough room to evolve for today’s animation crowd.

Call me cautious, but interested. If this becomes real and Disney nails the vibe, Kim Possible could absolutely still work in 2026.
