The summer anime calendar just got another soft romance pick to keep on your radar. Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky has confirmed that it will premiere on July 6, with the date revealed through a new trailer.

The latest preview also gives fans a first listen to the ending theme, Hikari, performed by Yui Sakurai of FRUITS ZIPPER. For Sakurai, this is her first time handling an anime ending theme after her solo major debut, and the song is being positioned as something that matches the fragile, sincere emotional core of the story.

That already tells you the vibe: this is not the loud action slot of the season. This looks like one of those quiet, feelings-heavy romance anime where the soundtrack, small gestures, and voice acting are going to do a lot of the heavy lifting.

A gentle romance with strong music credentials

One of the bigger names attached is Harumi Fuuki, who is composing the anime's soundtrack. Fuuki is a three-time winner at the Academy Awards in Japan, so the production clearly wants the music to carry emotional weight.

Based on the released comments, the score will lean into a smaller ensemble sound using piano, strings, and woodwinds. That makes sense for a story built around intimate conversations rather than massive spectacle. If the anime nails that delicate mood, this could be a nice late-night watch for romance fans in Malaysia and SEA who want something slower after the usual shonen and isekai chaos.

Cast and staff confirmed

The main voice cast includes:

  • Miyu Irino as Kakeru Sorano
  • Saori Hayami as Koharu Fuyutsuki
  • Konomi Kohara as Yuuko Hayase
  • Yohei Azakami as Ushio Narumi

Saori Hayami alone will probably get a lot of anime fans here to at least check out episode one. She has that calm emotional range that fits this kind of role perfectly, especially if Koharu ends up being the heart of the whole story.

On the staff side, Joe Yoshizaki is directing, with Yuko Kakihara handling series composition. MAKARIA is producing the animation. The original character designs come from raemz, while Yoshihiro Sawada and Yuzuki Ishii are credited for anime character design.

What is Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky about?

The anime adapts the light novel series by Nanigashi Shima, illustrated by raemz. It launched under SB Creative's GA Bunko imprint in August 2023, and currently has two volumes available.

The story follows Kakeru Sorano, a university freshman who gets pulled by his dormmate Narumi into a welcome party one spring night. There, he meets Koharu Fuyutsuki, a blind girl with a bright personality and dreams she talks about openly. Kakeru, on the other hand, is much more closed off.

Their relationship begins to shift after he picks up her white cane after class. Later, Koharu says she wants to see fireworks, and that simple wish becomes one of the emotional sparks between them.

For Malaysian anime fans, this could be one to watch if you enjoy tender romance stories like the kind that hit harder because they stay grounded. The university setting also gives it a slightly older flavour compared to the usual high school romance formula, which is refreshing.

No SEA streaming details were included in the announcement, so for now, mark July 6 on the seasonal watchlist and wait for platform confirmation.
