Makoto Yuki Gets Stronger in Persona 5: The Phantom X Global Event

Persona 5: The Phantom X players on global servers are getting a slightly juicier version of Makoto Yuki than the one seen in earlier Chinese and Asian releases, which is honestly nice news if you have been saving pulls for the Persona 3 Reload crossover.

During the Version 4.1 X-Stream special program, the team detailed how Makoto has been adjusted for the worldwide release. The five-star unit is now live in Persona 5: The Phantom X, with his banner running until June 25, 2026. Alongside him, players also get a Tartarus-themed event, while his personal side story will later appear as a Dream Chapter after the patch.

What changed for Makoto in global?

There are two main kit changes, and both make Makoto feel more valuable if you are building around Persona 3 Reload characters.

First, his Talent, On-Site Leader, has been improved. This ability boosts the attack of S.E.E.S. characters. In the Chinese and Asian version, the attack increase was 20%. For the global version, that number is now 30%.

That is not a small tweak. For SEA players who are juggling limited banners, currency planning, and the usual mobile gacha pain, a stronger teamwide buff makes Makoto easier to justify if you are already planning to run other S.E.E.S. characters. He is not just there because he is the Persona 3 protagonist, bro — he actually brings better team support now.

The second change hits his Scarlet Hades skill. Previously, Moon Phase stacks could be spent for a 76.2% Fire damage boost, while Full Moon stacks pushed that to 134.6%. In the global release, those numbers go up to 91.5% for Moon Phase and 150.7% for Full Moon.

Basically, Makoto’s damage ceiling is higher in global, especially when you manage his stack system properly. Players who enjoy squeezing value out of rotations will probably want to test how much this changes his place in Fire-focused setups.

Why Malaysia and SEA players should care

Persona has always had a strong fanbase in Malaysia and around SEA, especially after Persona 5 Royal and Persona 3 Reload pulled more casual JRPG fans into the series. With Persona 5: The Phantom X being playable on PC and mobile, this crossover lands in a pretty accessible spot for local players — whether you are grinding on your phone during commute or playing on PC at night.

The bigger deal here is banner value. Global gacha players usually watch earlier regional versions to plan ahead, but changes like this mean the usual “just follow CN/Asia meta” approach is not always 1:1. If Makoto is stronger on global, players may need to rethink whether to skip, save, or spend.

For F2P and low-spender players in Malaysia, that matters. Pulling on limited banners is always a resource decision, especially when anniversary rewards and future characters are around the corner. A 30% S.E.E.S. attack boost plus stronger Scarlet Hades scaling makes Makoto look more tempting than expected.

Persona 3 music is also joining the crossover

The update is not just about numbers. Persona 5: The Phantom X is also adding a new version of Atsushi Kitajoh’s Persona 3 Reload track, "It’s Going Down Now." It will be included together with 16 other songs as part of the crossover.

That part is a win for Persona fans even if you are not pulling. The music has always been half the reason this series lives rent-free in people’s heads, and bringing more Persona 3 flavour into Phantom X makes the event feel less like a simple character drop.

What is next after Version 4.1?

The roadmap also gave a quick look at May and June 2026. Version 4.2 is planned for the end of the month, bringing a new event and the start of the Anniversary Special Daily Hoot-n-Loot, which will hand out in-game currency. The first anniversary event is set to begin in the second half of June 2026.

Persona 5: The Phantom X is available on PC and mobile devices. Persona 3 Reload is available on Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
