MAPPA has been on a serious run for years now, from Jujutsu Kaisen to a packed future slate, but one of its more surprising upcoming projects has just hit a pause on the manga side.
Coco Uzuki’s shojo manga Fall in Love, You False Angels is going on a longer-than-usual hiatus due to the creator’s health. The timing is notable because the series was only recently confirmed for a 2027 anime adaptation, with MAPPA attached as the animation studio.
The anime itself has not been delayed based on the available information. What has changed is the manga’s publication schedule.
What happened?
Uzuki announced on X that the series would be taking a slightly extended break because of various adjustments, while also telling readers they would return soon and asking fans to wait.
A notice from the editorial side added more context: the break is connected to Uzuki’s poor health, and the team wants the creator to focus on recovery and reorganising the schedule properly. Uzuki also said they plan to review and sort things out so the story can continue in the best shape possible.
There is no return date stated in the original hiatus post, but Anime News Network reported that Fall in Love, You False Angels is expected to resume serialisation in November.
For a weekly manga, that kind of pause would feel massive. For this title, the impact is a bit different because it runs monthly in Kodansha’s Dessert magazine. The manga has been on that monthly schedule since launching in 2023.
Why MAPPA’s involvement matters
Fall in Love, You False Angels being picked up by MAPPA raised eyebrows in a good way. The studio is best known recently for action-heavy and darker titles, especially after Jujutsu Kaisen became a huge global anime name from 2020 onward. MAPPA also has Yuri!!! on Ice in its history, so it is not completely new to emotionally driven stories, but this still feels like a fresh lane compared with the studio’s recent image.
The anime adaptation was officially confirmed on June 11, 2026. MAPPA’s role was revealed a few days later, on June 19, during the studio’s 15th anniversary event, alongside the first look at the project.
The series is still scheduled for 2027, but there is no exact release date, release window, or confirmed streaming home yet.
The manga is already doing numbers
Fall in Love, You False Angels has seven volumes out in Japan. Five volumes have been licensed in English, and chapters are also available online through the official K Manga app.
The manga has also passed 2.25 million copies in circulation, which is a strong sign that this is not some tiny niche pick. The anime will likely put it in front of a much larger audience once MAPPA’s version arrives.

Analysis: For Malaysia and SEA readers who mostly discover new anime through big studio names, MAPPA being attached is the main hook here.
