Marvel collectors, this one is for the artbook shelf.

Clover Press and Marvel have opened the Kickstarter campaign for The Marvel Art of Mike Zeck, the latest release in Clover Press’ ongoing The Marvel Art Of… series. This marks the tenth book in the line, and the focus this round is a pretty major name for old-school Marvel fans: Mike Zeck.

The centrepiece of the campaign is a 224-page oversized coffee table artbook collecting some of Zeck’s most recognisable Marvel work. For fans who like their comics as physical display pieces — not just floppy issues in a box — the campaign also includes collectible portfolios, 11” x 17” prints, stickers, puzzles, signed editions, and other backer rewards.

The big hook here is Zeck’s legacy. He started making his name at Marvel in 1977 as penciler on Master of Kung Fu, before becoming closely linked with major characters and stories across the publisher’s catalogue. His credits include Kraven’s Last Hunt, Punisher: Circle of Blood, Captain America, and Spectacular Spider-Man.

For Spider-Man fans especially, Zeck’s work carries extra historical weight. The campaign includes postcard artwork connected to Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, the storyline that introduced Spider-Man’s black suit design. That suit eventually became one of the most iconic looks in Marvel history, later tied heavily to Venom and a whole era of darker Spidey storytelling. Basically, if you grew up loving black-suit Spider-Man through comics, cartoons, games, or toys, Zeck’s influence is part of that DNA.

His Punisher work is also a big deal. Zeck’s art on the original 1986 Punisher miniseries helped shape how later versions of the character would look and feel. That harder, street-level visual identity is still what many fans imagine when they think of Frank Castle.

Zeck said he is glad to see so much of his Marvel career gathered into a prestige-format book, highlighting the characters, covers, stories, and artwork that have stayed with readers over the years. Clover Press publisher Hank Kanalz also shared that he first met Zeck at Chicago Comicon in 1986, shortly after Punisher was released, and described Zeck joining the artbook line as a full-circle moment.

For Malaysian and SEA fans, the main thing to watch is the Kickstarter reward tier and shipping cost. Premium US artbooks can get expensive once currency conversion and international delivery kick in, so this is probably more of a serious collector pickup than a casual impulse buy. Still, for fans who collect Marvel hardcovers, artist editions, or convention-style prints, this looks like the kind of release that may be harder to find locally after the campaign window closes.

Clover Press’ The Marvel Art Of… series has previously featured artists such as David Mack, Alex Maleev, Michael Allred, Russell Dauterman, Mike Del Mundo, and Michael Turner. Zeck joining that lineup makes sense — his work is not just nostalgic, it helped define the visual language of several Marvel icons.

If you are into comic history, Spider-Man’s black suit era, or classic Punisher artwork, this Kickstarter is worth keeping on your radar.
