Medabots fans can now try the next game early — if they have access to the Japanese Nintendo eShop.

Imagineer has released a public demo for Medabots Card Robattle RB on Nintendo Switch in Japan. The demo gives players an early look at the upcoming card battle game before its full launch on June 25, 2026.

For long-time fans, this one is pretty interesting. Instead of being a straight RPG or action spin-off, Medabots Card Robattle RB is built around card battles featuring Medabots and familiar franchise characters. The full game will launch in two separate versions: Kabuto, linked to Beetle-type Medabots and Metabee, and Kuwagata, linked to Stag Beetle-type Medabots and Rokusho.

The demo is based on the Kuwagata version, but there is one nice quality-of-life detail here: save data from the demo can still be transferred to the Kabuto version when the full games arrive. So if you are the kind of player who already knows you are Team Metabee, trying the Kuwagata demo will not necessarily waste your early progress.

Digital pre-orders are also live now on the Japanese eShop. Each version is priced at ¥5,478, which is about US$34.69, or roughly around RM160+ depending on exchange rates and card fees. As usual with Japanese eShop purchases, Malaysian and SEA players will need a Japanese Nintendo Account if they want to download the demo or pre-order from that storefront.

The bigger catch: the store listing currently says the game is Japanese-language only. That matters for local players because card battlers can be very text-heavy. If you cannot read Japanese, you may still enjoy the Medabot designs and battle flow, but understanding card effects, menus, story bits, and strategy details could be susah unless the UI is very visual.

Still, Medabots being active again is a good sign. Imagineer has already resolved the European legal issues that previously blocked newer Medabots titles from getting proper international releases, but global rollouts are still moving slowly. The first newer title to properly go worldwide was Medabots Survivors, which launched globally on Android and iOS on February 25, 2026, a full year after its Japan debut in February 2025.

So for Malaysia and SEA fans, the main question is whether Medabots Card Robattle RB eventually follows that same path. The franchise has nostalgic pull here thanks to the anime era, and a Switch card battler could find a small but passionate audience if it gets English support. Until then, this demo is mainly for import-friendly players, Japanese learners, or hardcore Medabots fans who do not mind navigating menus blind.

The full Medabots Card Robattle RB release will be available for Nintendo Switch in Japan on June 25, 2026. It will also be playable on Nintendo Switch 2 through backward compatibility.
