Capcom is giving Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection a nostalgic upgrade with a free music DLC pack that swaps in battle tracks from Mega Man Battle Network.

The add-on goes live on April 23, 2026, and it is being released as part of the celebration for the April 2023 launch of Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection on modern platforms. To claim it, players will need a copy of Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, or PC.

For fans, this is less about new gameplay and more about vibe. Star Force already carries its own identity, but the chance to bring in Battle Network music gives the collection a very different feel during battles, especially for players who still have strong memories of Capcom's older handheld era.

According to Capcom, the DLC can be turned on through the BGM Selection menu found under Settings > Sound. Once enabled, the chosen tracks will play in battle instead of the default music from the three Star Force games.

There is one extra step, though. Players also need to head into the game's music section and mark tracks as favorites. Those favorited songs are what the game will pull from during fights, so simply downloading the DLC is not enough on its own.

Capcom's preview images confirmed five songs that will be included, and all of them come from the original Mega Man Battle Network:

  • Boundless Network
  • Net Battle
  • Operation
  • VS Life Virus
  • Winner (BN1 Version)

What Capcom has not confirmed yet is how deep this music pack goes. It is still unclear whether the DLC will draw from all six Battle Network games, or how many tracks from each title might eventually appear in the selection.

That uncertainty will matter to longtime fans, because the Battle Network series has a big enough soundtrack legacy that some players will definitely be hoping this is more than a small sampler. If Capcom expands the selection later, that would make the feature much more interesting for people who want to customise their battle experience beyond a few familiar tracks.

There is also a separate DLC option for Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, but that one is paid. Capcom is selling a Sonia Strumm and Luna Platz Character Model Pack for $2.99, which adds their models to the main menu.

For Malaysian and wider SEA players, this is the kind of update that hits a specific sweet spot. Retro and legacy collections tend to matter more here when they offer something that feels meaningful to older fans, not just a straight re-release. A music swap like this is a simple feature, but it gives returning players a reason to revisit the collection, and newer players a fun way to connect two different eras of Mega Man history.

It also helps that this one is free. In a region where players are increasingly picky about paid extras, a no-cost nostalgia add-on is an easier sell, especially for fans already juggling purchases across Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is out now on Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. Meanwhile, Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC.
