Mina the Hollower Finally Locks In May 2026 Release Date

Yacht Club Games has finally put a proper date on Mina the Hollower. After months of waiting and one delay that stretched way longer than expected, the retro-styled adventure is now set to launch on May 29, 2026.

For players who have been tracking this since the early reveal, yes bro, it has been a wait. The game was originally expected much earlier, but Yacht Club Games pushed it back for extra polish and balance work. Back in October 2025, the studio said it needed more time for “final polish and balancing,” and also suggested it would not be a major delay. In the end, the gap ended up being around 30 weeks — basically seven months from the earlier window.

Still, if the extra time means a tighter game, that is not the worst thing. Yacht Club Games earned a lot of goodwill from Shovel Knight, a game that understood old-school design without feeling dusty. So expectations for Mina the Hollower are naturally high, especially among players who love that compact, challenging, no-filler indie style.

What kind of game is Mina the Hollower?

Mina the Hollower is built like a top-down adventure with strong classic The Legend of Zelda energy. Visually, it leans into a Game Boy Color-style look: small sprites, bold colours, chunky animation, and that portable-era charm that hits especially hard if you grew up on handheld games.

The new release date trailer gives another quick look at the game’s areas, combat moments, and adventure flow. It is not trying to look massive or cinematic. Instead, the appeal is in that clean retro readability — the kind of game where enemy patterns, dungeon layouts, and movement feel more important than flashy effects.

That matters because SEA players are very used to squeezing value out of games. A short-but-sharp indie can easily become a Discord recommendation if the mechanics are good enough. If Mina the Hollower lands properly, it could be one of those “eh just try this” games that spreads by word of mouth.

Price and platforms

Yacht Club Games confirmed the game will cost US$19.99. For Malaysian players, the final local price will depend on storefront conversion, regional pricing, and platform fees, so Steam, Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, and Xbox pricing may not all land exactly the same.

The confirmed platforms are:

  • Nintendo Switch
  • Nintendo Switch 2
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X
  • PC

For now, only digital copies have been confirmed. That is worth noting for collectors, especially since many Malaysian players still like physical Switch releases when they can get them through local game shops or online sellers. Yacht Club Games did eventually release retail versions of Shovel Knight after launch, but for Mina the Hollower, nothing physical has been announced yet.

Why SEA players should care

This is one to keep on the radar if you like games that feel handcrafted rather than bloated. Between the Zelda-like structure, retro handheld look, and Yacht Club’s track record, Mina the Hollower has the ingredients to become a strong indie pick for 2026.

The delay was longer than expected, no cap. But if the final version comes out polished, balanced, and satisfying to replay, most players will forgive the wait pretty quickly.

Mina the Hollower launches on May 29, 2026 for Switch, Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
