Disney+ has officially locked in a new Bong-seok for Moving season 2, with newcomer Gyu-bin Won taking over the role previously played by Jung-ha Lee.
Lee will not return for the second season because of military service, so the series is moving ahead with a recast for one of its most important young leads.
According to Korean outlet News 1, the production recently held a script reading with the main cast and crew, which is usually a solid sign that things are properly getting rolling behind the scenes. Filming is also expected to begin soon, so this is not just a small casting rumour floating around. Season 2 is clearly entering its next phase.
For fans of the first season, this is a pretty major update. Bong-seok was one of the emotional anchors of Moving, so whoever steps into the role was always going to get a lot of attention. Bringing in a newcomer like Gyu-bin Won also makes this one interesting, because it means Disney+ is not just trying to recycle a familiar face. They are betting on a fresh actor to carry a character viewers already have strong feelings about.
If you somehow missed the hype the first time round, Moving is based on Kangfull's webtoon of the same name. The story follows students with hidden superpowers and their parents, who are dealing with dangerous secrets from the past. That setup gave the first season a nice mix of school drama, family tension, superhuman action, and old wounds catching up across generations.
Season 1 debuted in 2023 and helped push Disney+ further into the Korean original drama space. It also came with a seriously stacked cast, including Seung-ryong Ryu, Hyo-joo Han, In-sung Jo, and Tae-hyun Cha. That mix of veteran stars and younger characters was a big part of why the show landed so well. It did not feel like just another flashy powers series. It had proper family drama weight behind it.
Why should Malaysian and SEA viewers care? Easy. Korean live-action adaptations of webtoons are still a huge draw in this region, especially when they come with strong streaming access and plenty of online fandom discussion. Moving was one of those shows that crossed over beyond the usual K-drama crowd, because it had enough action and mystery to pull in superhero fans too. If season 2 starts filming soon, that means the wait for new updates, teaser drops, and cast reveals should start getting more interesting from here.
The big question now is how smoothly the transition works on screen. Recasting a fan-favourite role is never simple, especially when the original actor left for reasons outside the production's control. But if the writing stays sharp and the chemistry still hits, season 2 has a good shot at keeping momentum.
For anyone who wants to check out the original material, the official English version of the webtoon is available on Tapas. The live-action series is also available on Disney+ and Hulu.
