The upcoming TV anime adaptation of My Sword Saint Master Is Too Cute to Live With! has taken a proper step forward, with its official website revealing a new visual and the core production staff.
For fans tracking fantasy rom-com adaptations, this one sits in that very specific lane of powerful mentor, awkward cohabitation, and comedy built around training that gets way too distracting. Not exactly subtle, bro — but definitely the kind of setup that knows its lane.
Who is making the anime?
Masayoshi Nishida is directing the series at Wolfsbane and Lightbox. Nishida’s credits include Princess Knight, Little Astro Boy, and Makina-san’s a Love Bot?!
The technical director is Noriyoshi Sasaki, while Yōhei Kashii is handling series scripts. Kashii has worked on titles including TenPuru, My One-Hit Kill Sister, and Makina-san’s a Love Bot?!
Character designs are by Ichirō Tanaka, with Ayame Etō and Yusho Hayakawa credited as sub-character designers. Hayakawa is also serving as chief animation director. Music will be composed by 12sound.
The wider staff list includes Kazuki Kuwahara as sound director, Kumiko Yoshikawa on props, weapons, and small object design, and Norifumi Nakamura as art director. What is My Sword Saint Master about?
The original manga comes from author Kennoji and artist R_ringo. Its Japanese title is Dōkyo Shiteiru Kensei no Onna Shishō ga Kawaisugite Mainichi Shiawase Desu.
The story follows Eugene Dawson, who becomes the trainee of Liza Parsandra, a ridiculously strong Sword Saint. On paper, that sounds like the dream mentor setup: elite stats, insane sword skills, and the kind of presence that makes her impossible to ignore.
The problem? Living and training with Liza is not exactly easy mode. Her scatterbrained personality and overly physical training style keep throwing Eugene off, turning sword practice into a constant battle for focus.
Manga status and English release
The manga began serialization on KadoComi in March 2024. Its second volume shipped on January 23.
Seven Seas Entertainment announced at Anime Expo in July that it had licensed the manga. The English release is planned to begin in June 2027 under the publisher’s Ghost Ship imprint.
Kennoji has also worked on several other light novel and manga titles, including Drugstore in Another World: The Slow Life of a Cheat Pharmacist, The Girl I Saved on the Train Turned Out to Be My Childhood Friend, I Time-Traveled and Confessed to My Teacher Crush, and Hazure Skill. Drugstore in Another World previously received a TV anime in July 2021.
