One Piece Anime Finally Brings Prince Loki Into Elbaph, And The Lore Is About To Get Serious

Spoiler warning: This article discusses details from the One Piece manga and the Elbaph arc.

After a small delay getting the Elbaph arc moving, the One Piece anime has finally put one of its biggest new players on screen: Prince Loki.

For anime-only fans, this is the kind of character introduction that looks simple at first — big giant prince, scary reputation, tragic backstory vibes — but manga readers already know Loki is not just another arc-specific side character. He is deeply connected to the bigger mysteries of One Piece, including the Void Century, and his role may end up being one of the most important parts of Elbaph.

The timing is interesting too. One Piece only recently came back from a three-month break, and the anime is now moving into a seasonal structure starting with Elbaph. Instead of running weekly non-stop, the plan is to release 26 episodes per year. The adaptation is still expected to cover roughly one manga chapter per episode, but the new format gives Toei Animation more breathing room and, hopefully, keeps the quality more consistent.

For Malaysian and SEA fans, this is actually a pretty big deal. One Piece has always been part of the weekly anime routine — Discord chats, TikTok reactions, mamak table debates, all that. A seasonal format means fewer episodes across the year, but if the trade-off is stronger animation and less production burnout, that is a win. Elbaph is too important to look rushed.

So, who is Loki?

Long-time manga followers will remember that he was first mentioned way back in Chapter 858. He was the prince who wanted to marry Lola, Big Mom’s daughter. Big Mom saw the marriage as a way to repair her relationship with the Giants, but Lola ran away from home, causing that alliance plan to collapse.

Now that Loki is properly in the anime, the story is starting to show how complicated his position really is. Among the Giants, Loki has a terrible reputation. He was known for causing trouble through pranks and mischief, so when King Harald — the strongest and most respected king in Elbaph’s history — was killed at Aurust Castle 14 years ago, suspicion fell heavily on him.

But the truth is not that clean. The source material frames Loki as a misunderstood figure, blamed for a crime he did not commit. That is why his current condition hits harder: he has been tied to a legendary tree for six years, with nobody willing to free him.

The bigger twist is his power. Loki is linked to a legendary Devil Fruit, and that power is connected to the Void Century — still one of the biggest unanswered mysteries in One Piece. There is also a reason Loki was the one who had to eat that fruit, because he is apparently the only person capable of using its full potential.

That makes his debut more than just a cool “new arc character” moment. Elbaph is pushing the anime closer to endgame-level lore, and Loki is sitting right in the middle of it.

The anime is also expected to bring in the Holy Knights soon, after they were briefly shown in the opening theme. Once they arrive in Elbaph, the island’s peaceful fantasy-adventure feel is probably going to turn messy very fast.

For anime-only fans in Malaysia and SEA, this is the time to be careful online. One Piece spoilers travel faster than Luffy chasing meat, especially on Facebook groups, TikTok comments, and X. If you want to experience Loki’s secret properly, maybe mute a few keywords now, bro.

Elbaph has been built up for years. With Loki finally here, the anime is no longer just arriving at a new island — it is walking straight into some of the series’ biggest buried truths.
