Psyren Finally Gets Its Anime Shot 16 Years After Shonen Jump Cancellation

Psyren is back from Shonen Jump history

Some anime revivals are predictable. This one? Proper deep-cut energy.

Psyren, Toshiaki Iwashiro’s manga that ended in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump back in 2010, has returned in Fall 2026 as a new anime adaptation. The series originally wrapped with 100 chapters after being cancelled, but 16 years later, it is getting a fresh chance on screen.

The first episode is now out as part of the Fall 2026 anime season. According to the source, Crunchyroll is streaming the anime exclusively outside Japan, with an English dub planned, though no dub release details have been announced yet.

Opening and ending themes confirmed

The revival has also launched with its main theme sequences. The opening song is “WARNING!!” by CLAN QUEEN, while the ending theme is “Icarus” by Who-ya Extended.

For fans who love the old-school Jump flavour — supernatural stakes, sharp powers, and that “why didn’t this get bigger?” kind of manga history — this is the kind of comeback that feels designed to restart the conversation.

Who is making the Psyren anime?

The anime is being directed by Katsumi Ono, with Satelight handling animation production. The scripts are by Shin Yoshida, character designs are by Akira Okuma, and the music is composed by Takashi Ohmama, Tatsuhiko Saiki, and Shu Kanematsu.

One important detail: the total episode count has not been revealed yet. The source notes that the project has been promoted as a complete adaptation of the cancelled Shonen Jump story, but there is still no confirmed runtime for how long the anime will air.

Original creator Toshiaki Iwashiro is also reportedly working closely with the production team through promotional materials. That matters because a revival like this is not just about adapting panels into animation. If the team is aiming for a complete version, creator involvement could help make the anime feel like the clearest version of Psyren yet.

Why this matters for Malaysia and SEA anime fans

Analysis/inference: For Malaysia and SEA viewers who follow anime mainly through seasonal streaming, Psyren is interesting because it is not just another brand-new IP fighting for attention. It is an older Jump title getting a second life in a modern anime market, where one strong season can introduce a forgotten manga to a completely new crowd.

That is especially relevant for fans who missed the manga era or only know the bigger Jump names. A revival like this gives viewers a cleaner entry point without needing to hunt down years-old discussion threads just to understand why older fans still talk about it.

There is also a bigger industry angle here. The source compares Psyren to Black Torch, another cancelled Shonen Jump series that recently received an anime revival and adapted its story within one season. If Psyren performs well, it could strengthen the case for more “lost” Jump titles to be revisited instead of being left as manga-only cult favourites.

To be clear, that is not a confirmed future plan — just the obvious possibility this revival raises. But bro, if cancelled manga can come back this many years later and still get proper anime treatment, then the Jump vault suddenly looks a lot more exciting.

For now, Psyren has done the hard part: it is no longer just a “remember this manga?” conversation. It is officially part of the Fall 2026 anime lineup, with its first episode out and its revival finally moving.
