Re:ZERO fans, time to lock in again. Season 4 of Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- has released the preview trailer and images for Episode 5, which also counts as Episode 71 overall for the anime.
The episode is tied to its May 4, 2026 premiere, continuing a season that already looks like one of the big anime talking points of Spring 2026. For Malaysian and SEA fans who follow weekly anime like matchday fixtures, Re:ZERO is very much in that “don’t scroll Twitter/X before watching” category. One wrong thumbnail, and habis — emotional damage spoiled.
Season 4 started on April 8, 2026, with WHITE FOX back on animation production. That alone is a big deal because Re:ZERO’s reputation is built on atmosphere, psychological pressure, painful Subaru moments, and those quiet scenes that suddenly punch you in the chest. If the studio keeps the tension sharp, this season should stay high on the weekly watchlist.
The season is planned for 19 episodes split into two connected arcs:
- The Loss Arc — 11 episodes, beginning April 8, 2026
- The Recapture Arc — 8 episodes, beginning August 12, 2026
Both arcs are treated as part of the same Season 4 run, carrying the story forward after Season 3. Based on the schedule shared, there should be around a two-month gap after June 17 before the second arc begins on August 12, assuming there are no recap episodes or extra breaks in between. So yes, fans may need to tahan a bit between arcs — but at least the structure is clear instead of leaving everyone guessing.
The series is also performing strongly in Anime Corner’s seasonal voting, ranking first in the first three weekly polls of the season. That tracks, honestly. Re:ZERO has always had that mix of hardcore light novel readers, anime-only chaos watchers, Rem/Emilia loyalists, and people who just want to see how much more Subaru can suffer before something breaks.
For the production side, Masahiro Shinohara directs Season 4, with Tappei Nagatsuki credited for the original work and also serving as scenario supervisor. Masahiro Yokotani handles series composition, while Haruka Sagawa is character designer and chief animation director. The music is by Kenichiro Suehiro, whose work is a huge part of Re:ZERO’s identity — bro knows exactly how to make a scene feel cursed, tragic, or heroic in three seconds.
The returning and featured cast includes Yusuke Kobayashi as Subaru, Rie Takahashi as Emilia, Yumi Uchiyama as Puck, Inori Minase as Rem, Rie Murakawa as Ram, Satomi Arai as Beatrice, Kana Ueda as Anastasia, Takuya Eguchi as Julius, and Fairouz Ai as Shaula.
Re:ZERO first aired in 2016, adapting the light novel by Tappei Nagatsuki with illustrations by Shinichirou Otsuka. The franchise is also celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with 10 major projects announced, so Season 4 is not just another continuation — it is landing during a proper milestone year for the series.
For Malaysia and SEA anime fans, this is one of those titles that keeps weekly anime discussion alive. Whether you are watching for lore, waifu debates, Subaru’s trauma loop, or just to understand why everyone is suddenly screaming online every Monday, Episode 5 is another one to keep on your radar.
