The upcoming Saved by the Ice Cold Prince’s Embrace light anime is starting to take shape, and romance-fantasy fans now have the first proper details to lock in.
A teaser promotional video for the adaptation has revealed the anime’s main cast and production team, with the series set to premiere on TV Kanagawa in Japan this July. No SEA or Malaysia streaming platform has been announced yet, so for now, Malaysian fans will need to wait and see whether services like regional anime platforms pick it up closer to release.
The main pairing will be voiced by Miku Itō and Yōhei Azakami, which is already a solid reason for romance anime followers to keep an eye on this one. Itō is a familiar name for many anime fans, while Azakami has been showing up in plenty of notable roles across recent seasons. For a dramatic fantasy romance built around aristocrats, stand-ins, and an icy prince, casting matters a lot because half the appeal is in the emotional tension.
What is Saved by the Ice Cold Prince’s Embrace?
The anime is based on the manga version of Hokuhoku Yakiimo and Kusabi Kurokawa’s story. The Japanese title is Migawari Reijō o Sukutta no wa Reikoku Mujihi na Kōri no Ōji no Ai Deshita, which roughly points to a romantic fantasy setup involving a substitute noble daughter and the love of a cold, ruthless ice prince.
The manga is available in English through MangaPlaza, so international readers already have a route into the story before the anime arrives. That is useful for Malaysian and SEA fans who like checking out the source material first, especially for romance fantasy titles where the manga often gives more room for character drama and inner monologue.
The original story first appeared on Shōsetsu ni Narō in July 2023. Kurokawa’s manga adaptation later launched under Funguild’s isekai fantasy label Comic Spira in January 2025. According to the source details, this anime is adapting the manga version rather than the original web story. Funguild published the manga’s second compiled volume on January 19, and the series has already passed 1.5 million downloads.
The staff behind the light anime
Yūsuke Morishita, known for I Want to Live a Long Life to Dote on My Favorite Stepbrother, is directing the anime at IMAGICA Infos and Imageworks Studio, with cooperation from StainLab.
On the audio side, Yoshiyuki Oguri is handling sound direction at ASLEBEN, while Hiromune Kurahashi of Otonarium is in charge of sound effects. Kazuya Takahashi is coordinating production, and the title logo was designed by Yukino Kinoshita and Bay Bridge Studio.
Why this matters for SEA anime fans
The interesting bit here is not just the title, but the format. This is a light anime, a production approach that Dai Nippon Printing introduced in 2022 to describe anime made faster and at lower cost than traditional animation.
For fans in Malaysia and SEA, that can be both exciting and a bit risky. On one hand, lighter production models can help more niche manga and web novel stories get adapted, especially romance fantasy titles that may not receive full big-budget TV anime treatment. On the other hand, expectations need to be adjusted. This probably will not be the kind of animation showcase you watch for sakuga cuts every five minutes.
But if the voice acting, pacing, and romantic tension land properly, this could still scratch the same itch as those noble-lady fantasy manga people binge at 2AM. And honestly, that market is very real here — just look at how many Malaysian readers are already deep into villainess, reincarnation, and fantasy romance manhwa/manga.
For now, Saved by the Ice Cold Prince’s Embrace is one to keep on the Summer 2026 radar, especially if you are into dramatic fantasy romance with cold male leads, noble-house drama, and emotional payoff.
