SiNiSiStar2 is having one of those very specific otaku-game launch moments: the Steam release is doing well, but the free 18+ patch apparently pulled so much attention that Eroge Japan’s website temporarily went down.
The gothic action JRPG launched on Steam on May 16 as the second mainline entry in developer Uu’s series. It is published by Sanuk and Eroge Japan, and at the time reported by Automaton Media, the game was already sitting at a “Very Positive” rating on Steam with more than 800 user reviews.
The Steam version is an all-ages, censored release of the original NSFW game, which first came out on DLSite in 2025. For players who wanted the adult content restored, the publishers released a free 18+ patch through the Eroge Japan website. And yeah, people really showed up for it.
According to Eroge Japan representative Piro, as reported by Game*Spark, the site saw a flood of new users trying to download the patch after SiNiSiStar2’s release. The traffic spike was heavy enough to temporarily bring the servers down. Eroge Japan later said countermeasures were made and the site had been restored.
For Malaysia and SEA players, this is a pretty familiar PC gaming situation: Steam gets the clean storefront version, while patches or extras sometimes live outside the platform. It is worth noting that the patch is 18+ content, so check your own comfort level, local rules, and platform expectations before downloading anything outside Steam. Don’t simply click first and think later, bro.
As for the game itself, SiNiSiStar2 follows Sister Lelia and Sister Hanya, two nuns on a holy mission to fight eldritch corruption spreading across the land of Arsezons. The adventure takes players through cursed swamps, caves, and abandoned villages, mixing detailed 2D pixel art with 3D elements. Combat leans into action RPG territory, combining melee attacks and magic as players face the horrors lurking around the world.
The SEA appeal is quite obvious if you’re into niche Japanese PC games: dark fantasy, anime-style presentation, action combat, horror vibes, and that very DLSite-to-Steam pipeline. The strong early Steam reception also suggests this is not just a meme download situation. There is clearly a fanbase here for gothic pixel-art JRPGs with more adult-leaning roots.
SiNiSiStar2 is currently available on PC via Steam and DLSite. It supports English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese, which is a nice bonus for SEA players who often switch between English and Chinese language options depending on the game.
