Japanese indie games really do go places most studios would never dare touch, and Sodomy Fatale is the latest proof. Solo developer Jamsanpoid, best known for the wonderfully unhinged dating sim From Madness With Love, has released a new PC game in Early Access on Steam — and yes, it is a vampire gay bar management sim.
The game entered Early Access on May 15, with a full release currently planned for Q2 2026. According to the developer’s announcement, the Early Access version is priced at 860 yen in Japan, while a free demo lets players try the story up to Chapter 3. The paid Early Access build goes further, covering up to Chapter 7.
For Malaysian and SEA players who like weird-but-sincere Japanese indies, this is exactly the kind of Steam rabbit hole that can become cult favourite material. Small team, strong identity, extremely specific premise — memang the kind of game that spreads through screenshots, streamer reactions, and “bro what am I looking at?” Discord messages.
A vampire bar, a robot, and blood cocktails
Sodomy Fatale follows Alec, a flamboyant vampire who runs a gay bar with the same name as the game. His life changes after he finds Inis, an amnesiac general-purpose robot, abandoned in a junkyard. With nowhere else to go, Inis ends up working at Alec’s bar alongside part-timer Elena.
From there, the story leans into the bar as a place where strange customers open up. Inis observes conversations, learns about connection, and slowly gets pulled into the messy emotional lives of the people — and vampires — passing through Sodomy Fatale.
Gameplay-wise, the main hook is making blood-based cocktails called Hematels. Players create drinks for customers, manage the bar, and try to serve the right order to the right guest. Doing well brings in more VIP customers, which then pushes the story forward.
On top of the drink-making, the game also lets players customise the bar’s interior and build their own playlist for background music. So instead of being a stressful tycoon-style sim, this sounds more like a chill narrative management game with gothic nightlife flavour.
Adult-rated, but not an explicit game
Despite the title and premise, Sodomy Fatale is not being positioned as an explicit adult game. Its Steam page lists it as intended for adults, but the content warning points to mature elements such as homosexuality, smoking, alcohol, and blood. Automaton notes that the game does not contain explicit sexual content.
That distinction matters, especially for SEA audiences where queer-themed games can sometimes get misunderstood or reduced to shock value. From what has been shared so far, the game seems more interested in character stories, nightlife atmosphere, and oddball emotional comedy than in pure provocation.
The big catch: Japanese only for now
The main downside for Malaysian players is language. At the time of writing, Sodomy Fatale is only available in Japanese. That means unless you can read Japanese or are willing to push through with translation tools, this may be one to wishlist first and watch for localisation news later.
Still, Jamsanpoid already has a reputation for making games that are strange, funny, and surprisingly heartfelt beneath all the chaos. If From Madness With Love was your kind of cursed indie dating sim energy, Sodomy Fatale looks like another extremely specific, very Japanese, very memorable ride.
Sodomy Fatale is available now in Early Access for PC via Steam.
