Sony’s June 2026 State of Play Will Run Over One Hour, With Marvel’s Wolverine Confirmed

Sony is getting into showcase season early. The next PlayStation State of Play has been confirmed for June 2, 2026, and this one sounds meatier than the usual quick update stream.

According to Sony, the broadcast will run for more than 60 minutes and focus on PS5 games. The timing places it right around the Summer Game Fest window, so yes, this is probably one of those streams where PlayStation fans will want to keep expectations realistic but still pay attention.

For Malaysian and SEA viewers, the listed US timing means an early-morning watch. The show starts at 2pm PT / 5pm ET on June 2, which works out to around 5am Malaysia time on June 3. Not the most friendly slot, bro, but if Sony is really packing over an hour of PS5 updates, this might be worth checking the highlights over breakfast if you are not built for the live stream grind.

Where to watch the June 2026 State of Play

The obvious way to watch is online. Sony will stream the showcase through the official PlayStation YouTube and Twitch channels, so Malaysian viewers should have no issue catching it live or watching the archived version later.

There is also a cinema-style viewing option, but only in selected US locations. Sony is working with Alamo Drafthouse for free big-screen showings in six areas: Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, New York City, Raleigh, and the San Francisco Bay Area.

No Malaysia or SEA cinema screenings have been announced, so for us, this is almost certainly a couch-and-kopi situation. Still, the theatre screenings suggest Sony wants this State of Play to feel like a proper event rather than a small trailer dump.

Marvel’s Wolverine is the big confirmed game

So far, only one title is officially confirmed for the showcase: Marvel’s Wolverine. The PS5 game from Insomniac will get an extended look ahead of its planned September 15, 2026 release.

That alone makes the stream worth watching. Wolverine is one of Marvel’s most recognisable characters, and after how big superhero games have become in this region, there will be plenty of Malaysian players curious to see whether this lands closer to a stylish action showcase or a heavier character-driven story. The source material says the game will look at Wolverine across different periods of his life, which could give Insomniac plenty of room to play with tone, violence, and character drama.

If you are already budgeting for 2026 games, this is also one to watch from an RM pricing angle. Sony’s first-party PS5 titles usually launch at premium pricing in Malaysia, so any gameplay shown here will help players decide whether this is a day-one buy, wait-for-sale pick, or borrow-from-friend situation.

Could Marvel Tokon appear too?

Nothing else has been confirmed, but Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is another possible candidate. That game is a PS5 and PC fighter from Arc System Works and Sony, featuring Marvel heroes and villains. Since Arc System Works has a strong fighting game reputation, SEA players will be watching this one closely if it shows up.

Malaysia and the wider SEA region have active fighting game communities, especially around events, locals, and online brackets. If Marvel Tokon gets a proper gameplay spotlight during State of Play, it could quickly become one of the more interesting competitive titles to track.

For now, keep your expectations clean: Marvel’s Wolverine is confirmed, the showcase is over an hour long, and everything else is wait-and-see. But with Summer Game Fest season heating up, this State of Play could set the tone for PlayStation’s 2026 lineup.
