Kyoto Animation has given Sound! Euphonium fans a fresh reason to feel emotional again: Kitauji High School’s Sunrise Festival performance scene is now out, showing the marching band moment featured in the first part of the Sound! Euphonium Final Movie.

For long-time fans, SunFes is not just another concert clip. It is the kind of scene this series lives for — disciplined band movement, character tension under the surface, and that very Kyoto Animation ability to make small gestures feel massive. If you have followed Kumiko and Kitauji since the TV anime era, this is basically a nostalgia button with brass instruments.

The bigger update is that the second part of the Sound! Euphonium Final Movie is scheduled to open in Japanese cinemas on September 11, 2026. Kyoto Animation is handling the animation, which matters a lot for this franchise because the studio’s careful, grounded visual direction has always been a huge part of why Sound! Euphonium hits so hard.

For Malaysia and SEA fans, the main thing to note is that this is currently a Japan theatrical date. So, macam biasa, we will probably be watching for regional cinema listings, anime film festivals, or eventual streaming/licensing news closer to release. If you are the type who caught anime movies in GSC, TGV, or local fan screenings, this is one to keep on your radar — especially because Sound! Euphonium has the kind of passionate fanbase that makes cinema screenings feel extra special.

The returning voice cast includes Tomoyo Kurosawa as Kumiko Oumae, Ayaka Asai as Hazuki Kato, Moeka Toyota as Sapphire Kawashima, Chika Anzai as Reina Kousaka, and Haruka Tomatsu as Mayu Kuroe. Other listed cast members include Haruki Ishiya, Ayaka Ohashi, Sora Amamiya, Ayaka Nanase, Misaki Kuno, Shimba Tsuchiya, Shiori Sugiura, Shiina Natsukawa, Ayane Matsuda, Momoka Terasawa, Emiri Suyama, and Takahiro Sakurai.

On the staff side, the original work comes from Ayano Takeda, with Taichi Ogawa directing and Tatsuya Ishihara serving as chief director. Jukki Hanada is on script, Shoko Ikeda and Kazumi Ikeda are credited for character design, Kazumi Ikeda is also chief animation director, and Akito Matsuda handles the music.

Sound! Euphonium began its anime run in 2015, followed by a second season in 2016. The third season aired in 2024 and wrapped up in June that year. The anime adapts Ayano Takeda’s light novel series, illustrated by Nikki Asada, which ran under Takarajimasha from December 2013 to June 2024 with 14 volumes in total.

At its core, the story follows Kumiko Oumae as she enters Kitauji High School and returns to concert band after a painful competition experience. With a strict new director pushing the club toward Nationals, the drama is never just about practice — it is about insecurity, ambition, friendship, and whether a messy group of teenagers can actually find their sound together.

Honestly, that is why Sound! Euphonium still stands out. It is not loud in the usual anime way, but when the music starts, bro, it lands.
