Starbites Switch 2 Release Gets Delayed, But Other Platforms Still Launch May 21

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Starbites will no longer arrive together with the rest of the game’s planned launch platforms.

NIS America and Ikinagames have confirmed that the RPG’s Switch 2 release has been delayed, though neither company has shared the exact reason behind the sudden change. For now, the standard Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC versions are still locked for May 21, 2026.

That means Malaysian and SEA players who were planning to jump in on PC or current consoles are not affected. But if you were specifically waiting to play Starbites on Nintendo’s next-gen handheld, kena tunggu dulu bro.

Switch 2 Version Has No New Date Yet

The update came through an official NIS America social media post, which stated that the Switch 2 release has been delayed and that more details will be shared later. No replacement launch window was announced.

This is the second Starbites-related delay update in May 2026. Earlier in the month, a newsletter reportedly pointed to a PC demo arriving on Steam on May 7, 2026. A demo trailer also briefly appeared on the official YouTube channel before things changed. According to RPG Site, a later email said the demo had been delayed, and the trailer was later made private.

So right now, Starbites still launches soon — just not quite as smoothly as expected.

What Is Starbites About?

Starbites is a turn-based RPG from Ikinagames and NIS America. The story follows Lukida, alongside Badger and Gwen-dol, as they try to escape a ruined planet called Bitter.

The setup sounds pretty interesting: the characters are dealing with debts passed down across generations, which gives the RPG a heavier sci-fi survival angle instead of just “save the world, beat the boss” vibes. On the gameplay side, battles are turn-based, and players can customize mechas.

For SEA RPG fans, that mix could be worth watching. We’ve seen how well stylish mid-budget RPGs can build a loyal audience here, especially among players who enjoy games like Trails, Persona-style party dynamics, or tactical mecha setups. If the writing lands and the mecha customization has depth, Starbites could find a nice niche.

Why The Switch 2 Delay Matters

The delay is especially notable because Switch 2 will likely be a major platform for RPG fans in Malaysia and across SEA. Portable play is still a big deal here — whether it’s commuting, lepak sessions, or just playing in bed after work. A new RPG missing its Switch 2 timing could affect early momentum, especially if players choose to grab the PC or PS5 version first instead.

Still, it’s better for the Switch 2 version to come out later than launch in a rough state. No one wants a day-one version with performance issues, messy visuals, or loading problems just for the sake of hitting the same date.

For now, players can still pick up Starbites on Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC from May 21, 2026. The Switch 2 version remains undated.
