Street Fighter 6 Adds New Avatar Arcade and Random Avatar Match Modes This May

Capcom is giving Street Fighter 6 players more reasons to actually use their custom avatars beyond just flexing weird drip in the Battle Hub. Two new avatar-focused modes, Avatar Arcade and Random Avatar Match, will be added on May 28, 2026.

Both modes expand on the existing Avatar Battles system, but this update sounds a lot more structured. Instead of only messing around with custom characters casually, players will now have clearer ways to fight, train, earn items, collect gear, unlock moves, and spend Avatar Points on rewards.

For Malaysian and SEA players who enjoy Street Fighter 6 as both a serious fighting game and a social hangout game, this is a pretty solid update. Not everyone grinding SF6 is aiming for tournament top 8. Some players just want to build a ridiculous avatar, mix Master Styles, and throw hands online after work or between ranked sessions. This update supports that crowd nicely.

Avatar Arcade adds solo-style progression

Avatar Arcade gives players two main options: Spar with a Master or take on a Battle Tour.

Spar with a Master is the simpler option. You choose a difficulty level and jump into a single fight. It is mainly useful for earning items, gear, and moves, so it should be handy if you are still building out your avatar or testing different setups.

Battle Tour is the bigger mode. It sends players through a course made up of multiple fights, with rewards along the way. Before starting, the game will show details like the number of stages, course level, opponent level, and expected proficiency. There can also be New Challengers appearing during a run, which should keep things from feeling too predictable.

One cool extra: Battle Tour can help players earn Outfit 2 costumes for Masters. By fighting them and filling the Acquisition Gauge, players can work toward unlocking those outfits. The mode will also include endings from older Street Fighter games, which is a nice nostalgia touch for long-time fans.

Random Avatar Match gets proper training support

The second new mode, Random Avatar Match, is for players who want to jump into matchmaking with their custom character. You can either head straight into a random fight or go into Training Mode first.

That Training Mode sounds like the real quality-of-life win here. Players will be able to access every Master Style, Special Move, and Super Art when building a character. The Breakneck Brawler Outfit will also be available there. For anyone who enjoys labbing cursed avatar builds, this is dangerous in the best way.

Random Avatar Match will also use Level Sync. That means levels and base stats are adjusted so fights should be more even, instead of one player getting completely deleted just because their avatar is underlevelled. For SEA players dealing with mixed skill levels in online lobbies, this could make avatar fights way less frustrating.

Winning or simply taking part in these fights can earn players more equipment. Avatar Points can then be used in Avatar Room Rewards, giving the mode a proper loop instead of feeling like a side activity you touch once and forget.

Ingrid arrives the same day

This avatar update is only one part of Capcom’s late-May content drop. Ingrid DLC is also scheduled for May 28, 2026, marking a major return for the Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max heroine.

Street Fighter 6 is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch 2, and Windows PC. Avatar Arcade and Random Avatar Match will go live on May 28, 2026.
