Switch 2 Game Deals Are Already Dropping Before Launch, Including Star Fox

Nintendo Switch 2 hype is building, but so is the wallet pressure. According to GamesRadar, while the new handheld’s price is expected to climb later in the year, several upcoming Switch 2 exclusives are already being discounted before they even launch.

The standout deal right now is Star Fox for Nintendo Switch 2, which has dropped to US$49.94 on Amazon when added to cart. The game is currently expected to launch on June 25, so this is not a post-launch clearance situation — it is an early pre-order discount.

For context, that price is US$10 below its full MSRP, and even slightly cheaper than the listed US$49.99 digital version. It is only a few cents, sure, but physical collectors will understand the appeal: same-ish price, but you get the full game card and that new red Switch 2 game box on your shelf. Untuk kaki physical games, that one matters.

There is also a UK-side mention: Star Fox is listed at £44.99 at Very.

It is not just Star Fox

GamesRadar notes that Amazon has been pushing several pre-launch Switch 2 game deals over the past couple of weeks. Normally, pre-orders may get tiny markdowns, maybe a few dollars here and there. But seeing around US$10 off unreleased first-party-style Switch 2 titles is a bit unusual.

Two other examples were highlighted:

  • Yoshi and the Mysterious Book — MSRP US$69.99, but shows as US$59.88 after adding to Amazon cart
  • Splatoon Raiders — MSRP US$59.99, but reduced to US$49.94, similar to Star Fox

The catch is that some of these Amazon prices only appear after you put the game in your basket, so the listing price may not immediately show the actual discount.

Why Malaysian and SEA players should pay attention

For Malaysia, this is interesting even if Amazon is not always the most convenient buying route. Once you factor in currency conversion, shipping, import fees, and whether the seller ships here properly, that US$49.94 price is roughly around the RM230–RM240 range before extra costs, depending on exchange rate.

That may or may not beat local retail pricing once Malaysian stores, Shopee, Lazada, and regional game shops start listing Switch 2 titles properly. But it gives us an early signal: Switch 2 software pricing may be flexible before launch, especially if retailers are trying to lock in pre-orders early.

If you are planning to buy a Switch 2 before any hardware price increase hits, these game discounts could help soften the damage a bit. A US$10 saving is not massive, but across two or three launch-window games, suddenly that is enough budget for a case, screen protector, eShop credit, or a cheap accessory.

Physical copy or pre-order bonus?

There is one thing collectors should not ignore. Buying through Amazon may mean missing out on special bonuses from Nintendo or selected retailers. GamesRadar’s writer mentioned paying more through Nintendo UK to secure a Star Fox pin set and velcro patch.

So the decision is simple: if you only care about playing the game, the cheaper Amazon price is attractive. If you are the type who wants bonus merch, badges, patches, or limited pre-order extras, wait and compare local bundles first.

For Malaysian Nintendo fans, the smart move is to monitor both sides: overseas pricing for reference, and local retailers for actual landed value. If Switch 2 hardware really gets more expensive, discounted games might be the one small mercy we get before launch season goes full damage mode.
