Kura Sushi is not slowing down with its collab game. Right after its current Jujutsu Kaisen promotion ends in the US, the conveyor-belt sushi chain is rolling straight into a Tamagotchi crossover.
The Jujutsu Kaisen campaign runs until April 30, 2026, while the Tamagotchi promo begins almost immediately after on May 1, 2026. It will continue until June 23, 2026.
This new crossover is tied to the Tamagotchi virtual pet anniversary, so expect a more nostalgic, cute, collector-friendly vibe compared to the current cursed energy menu.
What’s on the Tamagotchi menu?
Like previous Kura Sushi tie-ins, the Tamagotchi event mixes themed food with collectible rewards. Three special sushi items are confirmed:
- Kuchipatchi’s Matcha Beef Roll — wagyu beef, cream cheese, avocado, and matcha mayo
- Mametchi’s Tamago Tempura — tempura-battered tamago served with rice and mayo
- Memetchi’s Salmon Shrimp Crunchy Donut — salmon and shrimp over rice, finished with yuzu cream sauce and panko crumbs
It is very Kura Sushi: playful, slightly chaotic, and clearly built for fans who want the full experience, not just a normal sushi lunch.
The collectibles are the real bait
The event will also include Tamagotchi-themed sushi plate lids with character-inspired stickers, plus Bikkura Pon prizes. The announced reward items include badges, microfiber cloths, and stickers.
Customers can get these through the usual plate-count system at 15 plates, 25 plates, 40 plates, and beyond. Kura Sushi will also allow some Bikkura Pon items to be purchased directly, which is useful if you do not want to makan until you question your life choices.
However, one item is more limited: the 30th Anniversary Changing Can Badge cannot be bought separately.
Kura Sushi Rewards members also have another bonus to chase. Starting May 6, 2026, members who spend US$85 dining in-store can receive a themed chopsticks case.
Why Malaysian and SEA fans should care
This is a US Kura Sushi promotion, so for most Malaysian fans, this is not something you can casually grab after class or work. But it still matters if you follow anime, game merch, or Japanese pop culture collabs.
First, Tamagotchi has massive nostalgia power. A lot of SEA fans grew up around virtual pets, knockoff keychain pets, or the real Bandai devices passed around school. The current worldwide Tamagotchi release is Tamagotchi Paradise, so this collab lands at a time when Bandai is clearly keeping the brand visible.
Second, food-chain anime and game collabs are becoming more aggressive globally. Kura Sushi has already worked with franchises like Jujutsu Kaisen, Hololive, and Kirby. Even if this exact campaign is US-only, these promos often create collector demand online. Malaysian fans who collect badges, towels, stickers, or limited character goods may want to watch resale platforms after the campaign starts.
And honestly, this is the kind of collab that would probably do well in SEA. Cute mascot characters, affordable small prizes, food-based missions, and anniversary merch? That formula fits our market gila well. If more Japanese chains or local partners bring similar campaigns here, fans will definitely show up.
Jujutsu Kaisen hands over to Tamagotchi
Before Tamagotchi arrives, Kura Sushi’s Jujutsu Kaisen promotion is still active until April 30, 2026. That event includes items like badges, carabiners, stickers, towels, hats, plus themed dishes such as Yuji Itadori Spicy Tantanmen and Ryomen Sukuna Dark Tonkotsu Ramen.
The Jujutsu Kaisen anime is available on Crunchyroll, while Viz Media handles the manga and the Modulo sequel.
For now, Tamagotchi fans have a clear window: May 1 to June 23, 2026. If you are travelling to the US during that period, this is one of those fun otaku detours worth checking out.
