The Apothecary Diaries is not slowing down, bro. The upcoming browser game The Apothecary Diaries Palace Chronicles has officially crossed 100,000 pre-registrations, and to celebrate, CTW Cayman has released a fresh Maomao visual for fans.

For a series that already has strong anime momentum, this is a pretty solid sign that the fandom is willing to follow Maomao beyond TV episodes and manga chapters. Anime Corner also notes that Maomao was voted 2025 Girl of the Year in its yearly awards, while the series picked up several other wins too — so yes, the timing makes sense.

What is The Apothecary Diaries Palace Chronicles?

The Apothecary Diaries Palace Chronicles is a simulation game based on the franchise, developed for the G123 platform. CTW Cayman first announced the title in July 2025.

The important bit for SEA fans: this is a browser-based game, not a heavy console or PC install. That means it should be easier to jump into on common devices, especially for Malaysian players who prefer quick-access games between work, class, commuting, or Discord lepak time.

The game will be free-to-play, with in-game purchases included. No local RM pricing has been shared yet for those purchases, so for now, Malaysian players should treat it like most F2P anime tie-in games: try first, spend later only if the gameplay loop actually hooks you.

Pre-registration rewards so far

With the 100,000 pre-registration milestone cleared, all players will receive Tea x20 when the game launches. In-game, Tea is used to recover stamina while cultivating herbs, which already sounds very on-brand for Maomao.

The current reward ladder is:

  • 50,000 pre-registrations: Ticket x50 — achieved
  • 100,000 pre-registrations: Tea x20 — achieved
  • 200,000 pre-registrations: Xiaolan unlockable character

That 200,000 target is the next one to watch. If the campaign keeps moving, Xiaolan joining as an unlockable character could be a nice pull for fans who enjoy the palace cast beyond just Maomao and Jinshi.

Pre-registration is available through several channels, including the official social media accounts, Discord, WhatsApp, and the game website. The WhatsApp option is especially interesting for our region because, let us be real, WhatsApp is basically default infrastructure in Malaysia and much of SEA.

Why Malaysia and SEA fans should care

Anime browser games can be hit or miss, but the format has one big advantage: low friction. Not everyone here wants to download another massive mobile game or keep storage free for a title they may only play casually. A G123 browser game could make sense for fans who just want something light, accessible, and tied to a series they already love.

The other reason this matters is timing. The Apothecary Diaries anime is already lined up for more major releases, with Season 3 and an original new movie expected across 2026 and 2027. A browser game launching around this bigger franchise push could keep fans engaged between anime drops.

The original light novel is written by Natsu Hyuga with illustrations by Toko Shino. The franchise also has two manga adaptations: one written by Itsuki Nanao and illustrated by Nekokurage, and another by Minoji Kurata. J-Novel Club handles the English release of the novel, while Square Enix publishes the manga.

At the heart of the story is Maomao, a sharp young apothecary who is sold into service at the emperor’s palace. Instead of quietly blending into the background, she gets pulled into solving palace mysteries and working with Jinshi, one of the court’s most noticeable officials.

For now, Palace Chronicles looks like one to keep on the radar rather than blindly hype. If the simulation side gives us proper herb-growing, stamina management, and character interactions without becoming too grindy, this could be a chill companion game for Apothecary Diaries fans in Malaysia and SEA.
