CloverWorks has another literary mystery title on the way, and this one looks like a nice change of pace from the usual battle-heavy anime calendar.

The Case Files of Biblia Bookstore TV anime has officially revealed its first teaser visual and trailer, alongside a planned 2027 premiere. The announcement also confirmed the main production staff and lead cast for the adaptation.

The series will be animated by CloverWorks, a studio Malaysian anime fans will definitely recognise from big-name productions across romance, drama, action, and character-focused stories. For a title built around old books, quiet deduction, and human secrets, that studio choice is pretty interesting. If handled well, this could land nicely with viewers who enjoy slower mystery anime with strong atmosphere rather than non-stop action.

Main staff and cast confirmed

Mamoru Kanbe is directing the anime, with Ayako Kurata serving as assistant director. Toshiya Ohno is in charge of series composition, while Jun Nakai is handling character designs and also serving as chief animation supervisor. Music will be composed by Takahiro Obata.

For the lead roles, Riko Akechi will voice Shioriko Shinokawa, while Shunsuke Takeuchi will voice Daisuke Goura.

The story follows Shioriko, the owner of Biblia Antiquarian Bookshop, and Daisuke, her helper and protector. Shioriko is shy and reserved, but she has deep knowledge of rare and vintage books, plus a sharp eye for solving mysteries from tiny clues. Daisuke, meanwhile, struggles with reading books because they make him dizzy. Together, the pair get pulled into cases involving hidden meanings, personal secrets, and answers that are not always obvious at first glance.

A long-running light novel finally gets anime treatment

The anime is based on the light novel series written by En Mikami and illustrated by Hagu Koshijima. The novels have been published under ASCII Media Works’ Media Works Bunko imprint since 2011, so this is not some random new IP getting rushed into anime form. It already has a history, a built-in readership, and multiple adaptations behind it.

Before the TV anime announcement, The Case Files of Biblia Bookstore had already been adapted into a manga, a television drama, and a live-action film. The live-action version is available on Crunchyroll, which means international audiences already have one way to get a feel for the premise before the anime arrives.

For Malaysia and SEA viewers, this could be one to watch if you like anime that sits closer to mystery drama or slice-of-life storytelling. Not every seasonal title needs to be about power systems, tournaments, or world-ending threats. Sometimes the hook is just a quiet bookstore, a clever lead, and a case that slowly opens up through conversation and details.

The 2027 window also gives CloverWorks plenty of time to shape the mood properly. With the right pacing, music, and visual direction, Biblia Bookstore could become that comfy-but-clever anime you put on after work, class, or a long ranked session. Bookstore mystery anime may not sound loud on paper, but bro, if the characters and atmosphere hit, this kind of show can stay in your head longer than expected.
