The Nakano sisters are not done yet, geng. Kodansha has confirmed that more The Quintessential Quintuplets content is on the way, including two anime projects and a new manga.

The announcement happened during the Toyota Arena Tokyo event on May 2, 2026, where fans got a fresh look at what is coming next for the franchise. One of the new anime projects and the manga will be based on The Quintessential Quintuplets: The Four Seasons, a light novel that continues exploring Futaro Uesugi and the five Nakano sisters.

For fans in Malaysia and SEA, this is the kind of news that will immediately wake up the group chat. The series has always been one of those romance anime where everyone has their “best girl” pick, and yes, the debates can get brutal. Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki all have their own fan armies, and this new batch of projects gives the fandom another reason to revisit the whole journey.

What The Four Seasons Covers

Because the upcoming manga and one anime project are tied to The Four Seasons, we already have a rough idea of the story direction. This part follows Futaro and the quintuplets during their third year of high school, moving closer to the point where his relationship with the sisters reaches its final answer.

The light novel itself has three volumes, with more moments and family-focused insights involving the Nakano household. So if you are the type who wanted more time with the girls beyond the main anime and manga storyline, this should be a pretty solid reason to pay attention.

That said, be careful if you start searching around randomly. The identity of the sister Futaro ends up with is already known, and the internet has zero chill when it comes to spoilers. If you somehow avoided the ending until now, bro, protect yourself.

There Is Also an OVA, But Details Are Thin

Kodansha also has an OVA in the works, though the source material or story basis for that project has not been revealed yet. So for now, we know it exists, but not whether it will adapt something specific, tell a side story, or do something more fan-servicey and standalone.

A new trailer was shown for the announcement, using footage from earlier anime adaptations while spotlighting all five sisters. There is also new key art featuring the Nakano sisters together, which is exactly the kind of visual that will probably end up all over anime Twitter, TikTok edits, and figure collector wishlists.

Why SEA Fans Should Care

The Quintessential Quintuplets has always worked well here because it hits that sweet spot: romance, comedy, school drama, and enough character loyalty wars to keep the fandom alive for years. For Malaysian anime fans who discovered it through streaming, manga collecting, or convention merch booths, this return means more chances for watch parties, cosplay, and probably another wave of “who should have won?” arguments.

There is no release window yet for the new The Quintessential Quintuplets manga, the anime project based on The Four Seasons, or the OVA. The original manga is available worldwide through Kodansha, while previous anime adaptations are streaming on Crunchyroll.

So for now, we wait. But if you are still emotionally attached to one of the Nakano sisters, memang this announcement is for you.
