After months of silence, Thermae Romae Redux is finally moving again.

Chapter 14 of Mari Yamazaki’s sequel manga is now available worldwide, including in English through Shueisha’s Manga Plus platform. That is a pretty big gap for readers following the series, because Chapter 13 previously dropped on September 1, 2025.

For Malaysian and SEA manga fans, this is good news for one simple reason: no waiting for unofficial scans or region-locked nonsense. Manga Plus being available globally means readers here can jump in legally and keep up with the same release access as everyone else. That matters, especially for a series like Thermae Romae, which has always had a strong niche following rather than the loud mainstream hype of battle shonen.

The original series followed Lucius Modestus, a Roman bath architect who repeatedly finds himself transported between ancient Rome and modern Japan. It is a ridiculous setup on paper, but that contrast between Roman bath culture and Japanese bathing habits is exactly what made the manga stand out. It is historical comedy, culture shock, and genuinely nerdy architecture appreciation all in one package.

This new chapter, however, shifts the spotlight away from Lucius. Chapter 14 focuses fully on Satsuki, his wife, who is currently back in Japan after the events of earlier chapters. She has been separated from her family and returned to her hometown, so the chapter spends its time exploring what her day-to-day life looks like now.

Rather than rushing straight into another big time-travel moment, the story appears to be taking a slower character-focused route. Satsuki is dealing with responsibilities tied to being back home, while also thinking through what her next move should be. That kind of pacing might not be flashy, but for long-time fans, it gives the sequel more emotional weight beyond just the comedy of Lucius discovering modern bathing tech.

The chapter does eventually bring Lucius back into view, alongside Marius, setting up a tease for where the manga could go next. There is no confirmed date yet for Chapter 15, so readers may need to be patient again.

For anyone new to the franchise, the original Thermae Romae manga ran for five years and was collected into six volumes. Yen Press handled the English release. On the anime side, the original nine-episode adaptation is available on Crunchyroll, while Thermae Romae Novae, an 11-episode version, is streaming on Netflix.

That makes this a pretty easy series to catch up on from Malaysia. If you have Netflix and Crunchyroll access, you can sample both anime versions before deciding whether to dive into the manga. And if you already enjoy slice-of-life comedy with historical flavour, Thermae Romae Redux is one of those oddball titles that still feels fresh because not many manga are built around ancient Roman bath culture, bro.

The main takeaway: Thermae Romae Redux is alive again, Chapter 14 is out globally in English, and Satsuki is getting a meaningful turn in the spotlight.
