Universal Studios Japan is going full crossover mode for its 25th anniversary, and anime fans are getting two very fun mashups: One Piece x Jurassic Park and Detective Conan x Back to the Future.

According to Anime News Network, USJ announced on Tuesday that it is partnering with both One Piece and Detective Conan on a new line of collaboration merchandise tied to the theme park’s anniversary celebration.

The One Piece side puts Monkey D. Luffy into the world of USJ’s Jurassic Park attraction, where he is shown interacting with a T-Rex. Honestly, that pairing makes weirdly perfect sense — Luffy versus dinosaur energy is basically the kind of chaotic visual that sells itself.

The Detective Conan collaboration goes in a different pop-culture direction. The artwork features Conan Edogawa and Dr. Agasa paying tribute to Marty McFly and Doc Brown from Back to the Future, specifically referencing the film’s iconic poster style.

What merch is included?

Both crossover lines will include a shirt.

For the One Piece x Jurassic Park collection, USJ will also offer:

  • A bottle
  • A tote bag

For the Detective Conan x Back to the Future collection, the additional items are:

  • A mug
  • A figure set

The merchandise is scheduled to go on sale from September 9 at USJ’s in-park Studio Style store.

One important detail: prices have not been announced as of the original report. So if you’re already mentally converting yen to RM, tahan dulu bro — there is no official pricing in the source yet.

Why this matters for Malaysia and SEA fans

Analysis / inference: For Malaysia and SEA anime fans, the main takeaway here is collectability. One Piece and Detective Conan are already massive long-running franchises, while Jurassic Park and Back to the Future are classic Universal properties. Combining them into theme-park-exclusive anniversary goods makes this feel more like a special souvenir drop than a normal anime merch release.

But also important: the source only states that these items will be sold at the in-park Studio Style store at Universal Studios Japan. There is no mention of Malaysia availability, SEA distribution, online sales, proxy options, or local pricing. So for now, this is best treated as Japan park merch unless USJ or another official channel says otherwise.

Still, the designs sound like the kind of crossover goods that will get anime collectors talking. Luffy with a T-Rex is instantly poster-worthy, while Conan and Dr. Agasa stepping into Back to the Future territory is a neat nod for fans who enjoy both anime and old-school movie references.

The creators also acknowledged the anniversary project. Eiichiro Oda, creator of One Piece, congratulated USJ and thanked the park for its annual One Piece Premier live show as well as the new anniversary collaboration. Gōshō Aoyama, creator of Detective Conan, also sent congratulations and expressed his excitement for the Detective Conan and Back to the Future crossover.

It is a small merch announcement, sure, but as far as crossover flexes go, this one has proper theme-park energy: dinosaurs, time machines, pirates, detectives. Macam USJ just threw the whole nostalgia cabinet into one anniversary drop.
