If you grew up on PS2-era JRPGs, this one is a nice little throwback. Sony has confirmed that Wild Arms 4 will be added to the PlayStation Plus Premium Game Catalog on April 21, 2026, making the game playable on PS4 and PS5.
That means players with the PlayStation Plus Premium subscription, listed at $17.99 per month, will be able to jump into one of the older Wild Arms entries on modern PlayStation hardware without digging out a PS2.
For Malaysian and SEA fans, this is the kind of drop that matters if you missed a lot of late PS2 JRPGs back in the day. Plenty of players here knew the bigger names like Final Fantasy and Persona, but series like Wild Arms were easier to miss unless you were really deep in the genre. Bringing these games forward on PS4 and PS5 makes it way easier to catch up now.
What Wild Arms 4 is about
Wild Arms 4 follows Jude, whose hometown comes under attack by mysterious enemies known as the Congressional Knights. While looking into what is happening, he finds that they have captured a girl named Yulie and are also mistreating one of their own allies, Arnaud.
Things spiral fast from there. Jude pushes back to protect Yulie, his family, and the people around him, but the situation ends with their entire area crashing down onto the planet Filgaia. From there, the trio sets out to figure out what is really going on and fight back.
Sony also confirmed that this PS4 and PS5 version will include some quality-of-life upgrades, including:
- Quick save
- Rewind
- Upscaling
Those features should make the game much less painful to revisit in 2026, especially for newer players who are not always in the mood for old-school save points and rougher PS2-era friction.
One thing Sony did not clarify
There is still one catch. Sony did not say whether the crashing and freezing issues known from the original PS2 release have been fixed in this version.
So while the added rewind and quick save tools are definitely helpful, players hoping for a fully cleaned-up version may want to wait and see how this re-release performs once it goes live.
Where Wild Arms stands on current PlayStation consoles
With this addition, four Wild Arms games will now be available on current PlayStation systems through PS Plus Premium, with some also sold separately.
Here is the current situation based on the PlayStation Store listings mentioned:
- Wild Arms: available on PS4 and PS5, priced at $9.99 individually
- Wild Arms 2: available on PS4 and PS5, priced at $9.99 individually
- Wild Arms 3: priced at $14.99, but listed as PS4 only
- Wild Arms 4: joining PS Plus Premium on April 21, 2026 for PS4 and PS5
Sony's official announcement only confirmed Wild Arms 4 for the subscription catalog, and did not mention a standalone purchase price for the PlayStation Store.
For JRPG fans in Malaysia, this is a pretty solid archive win. A lot of classic Japanese games are still stuck on older hardware, so every time one of these lands on PS5, it makes the genre's history a bit easier to access. If you've been curious about Wild Arms but never had a clean entry point, this might be your moment.
