Wistoria Creator Says Season 2’s Huge Episode Is Still Only the Prologue

Wistoria: Wand and Sword Season 2 just gave fans the kind of episode most fantasy anime would save for a finale — but according to creator Fujino Omori, this is still only the beginning.

The anime, currently streaming on Crunchyroll as part of the Spring 2026 season, has reached a major turning point with Season 2 Episode 5, also counted as Episode 16 overall. The episode puts Will Serfort through a huge battle against a Devander, while also showing off a major upgrade to his abilities.

For Malaysian and SEA anime fans who have been keeping Wistoria on the weekly Crunchyroll rotation, this is the episode that basically says: jangan drop yet, bro. The show is finally moving past its setup phase and into the bigger story it has been teasing since Season 1.

Fujino Omori says Wistoria is only getting started

After the episode aired, original creator Fujino Omori shared a message on social media thanking fans for watching Episode 16. Omori said this was the episode he had most wanted to see animated, and that he was happy to experience it with such strong animation.

But the bigger tease was what came next: Omori explained that Wistoria up to this point has only been the prologue, and asked fans to continue supporting the story as it moves forward.

That is a pretty important statement, because Season 2 Episode 5 does not feel small at all. Will unlocks a stronger version of his power, takes on a massive threat, and the anime pushes hard into the idea that his role in this world is much bigger than people realised.

Will’s new sword has a key detail fans should watch

Omori also gave extra context on Will’s latest power-up. Wistoria has already established that Will’s Wis ability allows him to absorb magic into his sword. In the newest episode, he uses a version tied to Elfaria, revealed as the Albis Wis sword.

According to Omori, this is currently the strongest magic sword Will can use. However, the reason is not simply raw destructive power. The Albis Wis sword is the strongest right now because Will and Elfaria have the highest compatibility.

That detail matters. Omori noted that Will will eventually gain access to other swords with greater output, meaning the power system is not just about one upgrade replacing another. Compatibility, magic type, and the bond behind the ability could all shape how Will fights moving forward.

Another neat detail: Will’s eyes change colour depending on the magic he absorbs. That is the kind of visual cue anime fans will definitely start pausing for, especially if future episodes introduce more sword forms.

Why this matters for SEA anime fans

Wistoria has always had a strong hook for fantasy fans: a boy born without magic trying to survive in a society that treats magic as everything. That underdog angle is familiar, but the show is now pushing beyond school rivalry and social judgement into something more mythic.

The latest reveal points to Will being part of a larger destined journey involving both Wand and Sword. His Limit Breaker form and refined use of Wis are also being framed as something the Magia Vander already understand, suggesting the top powers in this world know more about Will’s nature than they have let on.

For SEA viewers juggling weekly anime with packed watchlists, this is a good moment to catch up. Spring 2026 has plenty of shows fighting for attention, but Wistoria just made its case as one of the fantasy titles worth staying current with — not because it is shouting louder, but because its story finally looks ready to open up.

If Episode 5 was only the end of the prologue, then Will’s next fights should be much bigger than proving his classmates wrong. The anime has moved from “magicless boy gets underestimated” into “this guy might be central to the whole world’s future”.
