Witch Hat Atelier is already one of Spring 2026’s prettiest fantasy anime, and now the cast just got even more stacked.
Episode 7 introduces the Knights Moralis, a group of witches who basically act as the rule-enforcement squad for the Day of the Pact. Their job is not small: they erase the memories of people who uncover how magic really works, and they also deal with witches who misuse magic or touch forbidden spells.
That is a big shift for the anime, because Witch Hat Atelier is not just doing cosy magic-school vibes. The series has always had a darker edge under its beautiful artwork, and the arrival of the Knights Moralis makes that tension much clearer.
The headline name here is Junichi Suwabe, who voices Easthies. If you follow modern anime, you definitely know his voice. He is the actor behind Ryomen Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen, one of the most recognisable villain performances of the last few years. He has also voiced Shota Aizawa in My Hero Academia, Grimmjow in Bleach, and Yami Sukehiro in Black Clover.
For Malaysian and SEA anime fans, this is the kind of casting that immediately makes an episode feel more premium. Suwabe has that calm-but-dangerous presence that fits authority figures, villains, and morally grey characters so well. In a series like Witch Hat Atelier, where rules, secrets, and punishment matter a lot, that voice choice makes sense.
He is not the only new addition. Jun Kusawa, known for Nigami in 100 Meters, joins as Utowin. Hiroki Yasumoto, who voiced King in One Punch Man, plays Gaiga. Yui Ishikawa, best known as Mikasa Ackerman in Attack on Titan and Violet in Violet Evergarden, voices Lulucis. That is a serious lineup for one group of characters.
Witch Hat Atelier is based on Kamome Shirahama’s seinen fantasy manga, which has been running in Kodansha’s Morning Two since July 2016. The anime was first announced back in 2022 and was originally expected in 2025, but the production took longer than planned. Judging from the final result, fans can see why. The anime has been praised for translating the manga’s detailed, delicate art into animation without losing its charm.
The story follows Coco, a girl who works at her mother’s dressmaking shop and dreams of becoming a witch. In her world, magic is believed to be something only certain people are born with, so Coco assumes that dream is impossible. Everything changes when the witch Qifrey visits the boutique, and Coco discovers a hidden truth about how magic actually works.
That discovery leads her into Qifrey’s atelier, but it is not a simple wish-fulfilment journey. Coco is trying to fix a terrible mistake caused by her curiosity, while Qifrey has his own reasons for bringing her in, including the search for someone using forbidden magic.
The first season is currently confirmed for 13 episodes. Witch Hat Atelier is streaming on Crunchyroll with both subbed and dubbed versions, with new episodes listed for Mondays at 7:00 A.M. PT. For Malaysia, that usually means Monday night viewing, so it is an easy one to slot into the weekly anime watchlist after work or class.
If you have been sleeping on this because it looks too gentle, Episode 7 might be the point where the series shows its sharper teeth.
