You Can't Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends! Manga Ends Soon

Misu's You Can't Be In a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends! is officially moving toward the finish line, with the manga set to end in three more chapters.

For fans who jumped in through the anime earlier this year, this is one of those moments where the timing feels pretty wild. The TV adaptation only premiered on January 5, with Crunchyroll streaming the series as it aired and also offering an English dub. Now, just a few months later, the original manga is preparing to wrap up.

The series is built around a very classic but still dangerously effective rom-com setup: Hero, a normal high school guy, is stuck in the emotional danger zone with his two childhood friends, Shio and Akari. Both girls are cute, both go to the same school, and Hero is convinced they only see him as a friend. Of course, because this is a rom-com, the girls are also carrying their own feelings and secrets.

Basically, it is childhood-friend tension with maximum awkwardness. The kind where everyone should just talk honestly, but if they did, the manga would probably end in one chapter. So yes, very relatable for anyone who has ever watched a friend group become messy.

Misu launched the manga on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket website in March 2022. Kodansha released the manga's 20th compiled volume on May 8, which means readers are already deep into the story by this point. Kodansha's K MANGA service also publishes the series in English, giving international readers an official way to follow it.

For Malaysian and SEA anime fans, the main reason to care is simple: if you discovered the series through the anime, the manga ending gives you a clear next step. Instead of waiting around and hoping for more anime news, you can follow the source material and see where the love triangle actually lands.

It also matters because rom-com anime adaptations do not always get full coverage. Sometimes you get one season, a nice OP, some cute moments, then silence. So when the manga itself is ending, fans who want closure should probably keep an eye on the final chapters rather than assuming another anime season will explain everything.

No major plot details about the ending have been shared in the source report, so for now, it is just countdown mode. Team Shio? Team Akari? Team Hero needs to stop panicking? Whatever side you are on, the childhood-friend battlefield is about to close.
