HoYoverse is already setting the table for Zenless Zone Zero Season 3, and honestly, this one sounds like a proper lore-heavy update rather than just another banner cycle.
In a new Dev Talk – Season 3 Outlook video, members of the ZZZ development team shared early details on what players can expect after Version 2.8. Right now, the game is on Version 2.7, while Version 2.8 is expected to arrive on May 6, 2026. Before that, the 2.8 Special Program airs on April 24, 2026.
The big focus for Season 3 seems to be the mystery around Belle and Wise, the Proxies behind Phaethon. The team teased that the strange legacy power connected to Helios Academy, first shown after the Bringer incident, will become more unstable and harder to ignore. That means we are finally getting deeper looks into Phaethon’s past, which is exactly the kind of story meat long-time players have been waiting for.
Season 3 will also continue the chase after Flint Porcelloy, following Ramiel taking the power in Version 2.7. The Etheric Other Pyrois Agent is also set to appear, while groups such as the Krampus Compliance Authority, Marcel Group, and Public Safety will become part of the bigger picture.
For Malaysian and SEA players, this matters because ZZZ has been one of those HoYoverse games where the vibe is already strong, but the long-term story hook still needs to fully land. If Season 3 really goes hard on Phaethon’s background, it could be the update that makes people come back for more than just S-rank pulls.
The new area revealed is Roscaelifer, Lady Sunbringer’s classified airspace zone. It will also act as a haven for Bangboo, which already sounds dangerous for players who collect these little gremlins like mascots. The location will include shops such as Roaring Brekkies, described as a surprise box shop, and Coff Cafe, where players can find coffee and tea.
More importantly, Season 3 introduces Interboo Terminals in both the city and combat areas. These are linked to the Bangboo Network, giving players access to Bangboo profiles, exploration features, and an Interboo Account with extra rewards. HoYoverse is also adding a permanent Bangboo game mode built around restoring Bangboo and managing a secret base.
Combat-wise, Roscaelifer’s zones will connect back to the Singularity Leakage mentioned in Season 2. That means players can expect Hollow-like spaces and more Ethereals to fight. The dev talk also appeared to confirm that the Wind element will debut in Season 3, which could shake up team building depending on how HoYoverse designs its reactions and agent kits.
The roadmap shown at the end of the video teased Version 2.8 as the Season 2 Epilogue, followed by Season 3.0: A Sleepwalker’s Confession and Season 3.1: The Long Goodbye.
Before all that, Version 2.8 has one very loud reason to pay attention: Billy Kid is finally getting an S-rank version. Since launch, players have only had access to his A-rank form, so this is a big one for fans of the goofy gunslinger. Promeia will also be part of the update.
