Coromon Hits Indie Pass, Giving PC Players a Proper Creature Collector Without Buying a Switch
If you grew up with Pokemon but never fully committed to Nintendo hardware, Coromon is the kind of PC-friendly creature collector that makes a lot of sense.
The game has now joined Indie Pass, the curated indie game service from indie.io, giving PC players another way to jump into one of the better-rated monster-catching RPGs outside Nintendo’s ecosystem. That matters for Malaysia and SEA because, let’s be real, buying a Switch plus full-priced Pokemon games is not cheap. For players already gaming on PC, laptop, or handheld PC, Coromon removes that console barrier entirely.
Coromon is set in Velua, a bright pixel-art world where you play as a Battle Researcher working for Lux Solis. Your first day does not exactly go smoothly: a mysterious enemy attacks your workplace, and you end up building a squad of Coromon to investigate and fight back.
The core loop will feel familiar if you have touched any creature-catching RPG before. You capture monsters, train them, build a party, and use elemental matchups to win battles. The game has more than 100 Coromon to collect, but one nice quality-of-life twist is colour customisation. Instead of spending ages praying for a rare shiny-style encounter, you can tweak appearances more directly.
Where Coromon gets interesting is its stamina system. Actions in battle consume energy, so you cannot just spam the strongest move every turn and call it a day. You need to think about pacing, move choice, and whether your Coromon can keep fighting effectively. It is still approachable, but there is a bit more tactical bite than the usual “press super effective attack” routine.
The difficulty options also help. If you want a chill weekend game, easy mode is there. If you are the type who enjoys suffering for content, Coromon also includes Randomizer and Nuzlocke modes. Anyone who has tried a Pokemon Nuzlocke knows the pain: stricter rules, higher stakes, and plenty of emotional damage when a favourite monster goes down.
Coromon currently carries an 86% Steam rating, and the timing is decent because TRAGsoft recently pushed out the Coromon: Remastered update in March for the game’s four-year anniversary. That update overhauled the UI, improved battle quick-actions, moved the game to a new engine for smoother play, and expanded input support with more hotkey options.
For SEA players, this is the key pitch: Coromon is not trying to be Pokemon with the serial numbers rubbed off. It is a PC-accessible creature collector with modern systems, customisation, and modes that suit both casual players and challenge-run addicts. If you have been craving that monster-collecting loop but do not want to buy into Nintendo’s hardware cycle, this is worth a look.
Indie Pass also includes other indie titles such as Dream Tactics and Tyrant’s Blessing, with the service positioning itself around curated discovery instead of making players dig through massive storefront clutter. Coromon joining that library gives the service a stronger hook for RPG fans.
