Forza Horizon 6 Xbox Graphics Modes Confirmed Ahead of Launch

Playground Games has locked in the console graphics options for Forza Horizon 6, and the good news is simple: Xbox Series X players are getting a proper 4K-focused mode, while 60 FPS is also on the table if you prefer smoother driving.

The update comes alongside confirmation that Forza Horizon 6 has gone gold, meaning the main development build is ready ahead of launch. For racing fans in Malaysia and SEA, especially those playing on a big living room TV, these performance details actually matter. A game like Forza is all about speed, scenery, weather, reflections, and clean image quality — so knowing what your console can realistically deliver helps before you commit your time, storage space, or maybe even a hardware upgrade.

Xbox Series X gets native 4K Quality mode

On Xbox Series X, Forza Horizon 6 will offer two graphics modes: Quality and Performance.

Quality mode is the visual-first option. It runs at native 4K and 30 FPS, with Playground Games also promising higher visual fidelity. In plain speak, this is the mode for players who want the sharpest image and the prettiest version of the game on console, especially if you are playing on a 4K TV or monitor.

Performance mode is for the players who care more about responsiveness. It targets 60 FPS while still aiming for 4K, but the resolution will scale dynamically to keep the frame rate stable. That means the image may not always stay as crisp as the native 4K mode, especially during busier scenes, but the trade-off should be better motion and a smoother driving feel.

For a racing game, that 60 FPS option is a big deal. Cornering, drifting, traffic, weather effects, and high-speed races all feel better when the frame rate is more fluid. If you play competitively with friends or just hate input delay, Performance mode will probably be the default pick.

Xbox Series S has more modest targets

The Xbox Series S version also includes Quality and Performance modes, but with lower resolution targets.

Quality mode on Series S runs at 1440p and 30 FPS, while Performance mode targets 1080p and 60 FPS. Both modes use dynamic resolution scaling, so the console can adjust image quality depending on how demanding the scene is.

That is not shocking, honestly. Series S has always been the more budget-friendly Xbox, and Forza Horizon games are usually packed with dense environments, weather, lighting, and fast streaming world detail. For Malaysian players using Series S on a 1080p display, the 60 FPS mode should still be very playable. But if you are on a large 4K TV, Series X or PC will clearly be the better-looking route.

PC is still the flex option

As expected, the PC version is where players can push things further — assuming the hardware is there. The game includes an Extreme RT setting with ray tracing, upscaled 4K, and 60+ FPS, but that will need a serious rig.

Interestingly, the source also notes that native 4K at roughly similar performance on the highest quality preset is considered more reasonable than going all-in on Extreme RT. So if you are running a strong gaming PC but not some insane monster build, there should still be a solid path to a premium experience.

Launch date and PS5 version

Forza Horizon 6 launches on May 19 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. A PS5 version is planned for later this year, so PlayStation players will have to wait a bit longer before jumping in.

For now, the big takeaway is clear: Series X players get the cleanest console setup, Series S gets sensible compromises, and PC remains the place for those who want to tune everything until their GPU starts sweating.
