HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro Looks Like a Strong Android-Friendly Apple Watch Alternative
HUAWEI’s Watch Fit line has always had one very clear mission: give Android users a stylish square smartwatch without forcing them into Apple’s world. With the new HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro, that idea gets a cleaner, more polished upgrade — especially for users who care more about fitness tracking and battery life than downloading a million apps.
Based on Android Authority’s review, the Watch Fit 5 Pro keeps the Apple Watch-style rounded-square look, but improves the overall feel with a larger 1.92-inch AMOLED display and slimmer bezels. The screen can hit up to 3,000 nits peak brightness, which is a big deal for Malaysia and SEA users. If you run at lunch, walk under our brutal afternoon sun, or check notifications outdoors, display visibility is not just a nice-to-have — it matters.
HUAWEI also added adaptive refresh rates, letting the screen move between 1Hz and 60Hz depending on what you are doing. In simple terms: smoother scrolling when needed, better battery efficiency when not. That pairs well with the watch’s fitness-first approach.
Battery life is easily one of the headline reasons to care. HUAWEI rates the Watch Fit 5 Pro for up to 10 days with light use and around seven days with typical use. With heavier testing — Always-On Display, notifications, continuous heart rate, sleep tracking, SpO2 and regular GPS workouts — Android Authority managed roughly five days. For anyone used to charging an Apple Watch or Pixel Watch almost daily, that is memang a huge quality-of-life upgrade.
Fitness tracking is where the Watch Fit 5 Pro seems most comfortable. It comes with a long list of workout modes, including trail running, cycling metrics, golf tools with course maps, and swing analysis. HUAWEI also added a Mini-Workout mode with 30 short guided movements that do not need equipment or much space. That actually fits SEA city life quite well — quick workout between classes, office work, GrabFood guilt, or late-night gaming sessions.
Health features are also stacked. The watch supports continuous heart rate monitoring, SpO2 tracking, stress tracking, skin temperature, mental health tools, women’s health tracking, and sleep tracking with nap detection. Android Authority noted that heart rate data was highly reliable in testing, coming close to a dedicated heart strap.
But the usual HUAWEI problem is still here: ecosystem. HUAWEI Health is polished, but the overall smartwatch experience is not as deep as Apple, Samsung, or Google. Third-party apps are limited, integrations are weaker, contactless payments depend on region, and there is no LTE model. For Malaysian users, that means you should check local feature support before buying, especially if payments and app integrations are important to you.
The other key point: local RM pricing will decide how attractive this becomes. Android Authority’s source review did not include Malaysia pricing for the Watch Fit 5 Pro, so the value question depends heavily on where it lands in our market. If it comes in at a reasonable price, it could be a very strong option for Android users who want fitness, battery life, and premium-looking hardware without going full flagship smartwatch.
Bottom line: the HUAWEI Watch Fit 5 Pro does not sound like a massive reinvention, but it refines the right things — better display, cleaner design, strong health tracking, and battery life that makes daily charging feel outdated. If you want deep Google apps, Apple-level integration, or LTE, look elsewhere. If you want a solid fitness watch that looks sharp and lasts for days, this one deserves a spot on your shortlist.
